Characterization of a tagged $\gamma$-ray beam line at the DAFNE Beam Test Facility / Cattaneo, P W (INFN, Pavia) ; Argan, A ; Boffelli, F ; Bulgarelli, A ; Buonomo, B ; Chen, A W ; D’Ammando, F ; FoggettA, L ; Froysland, T ; Fuschino, F et al.
At the core of the AGILE scientific instrument, designed to operate on a satellite, there is the Gamma Ray Imaging Detector (GRID) consisting of a Silicon Tracker (ST), a Cesium Iodide Mini-Calorimeter and an Anti-Coincidence system of plastic scintillator bars. The ST needs an on-ground calibration with a γ-ray beam to validate the simulation used to calculate the energy response function and the effective area versus the energy and the direction of the γ rays. In this work we explore for the first time the applicability of using $\gamma$-ray imaging in neutron capture measurements to identify and suppress spatially localized background. For this aim, a pinhole gamma camera is assembled, tested and characterized in terms of energy and spatial performance. [...]

Nuclear-structure studies of exotic nuclei with MINIBALL / Butler, P A (Liverpool U.) ; Cederkall, J (Lund U.) ; Reiter, P (Cologne U.)
High-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy has been established at ISOLDE for nuclear-structure and nuclear-reaction studies with reaccelerated radioactive ion beams provided by the REX-ISOLDE facility. The MINIBALL spectrometer comprises 24 six-fold segmented, encapsulated high-purity germanium crystals. [...]
