Electromagnetic moments of the odd-mass nickel isotopes $^{59-67}$Ni / Müller, P. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Kaufmann, S. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Miyagi, T. (Darmstadt, Tech. U. ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst. ; Darmstadt, EMMI) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K. (Darmstadt, EMMI) ; Cheal, B. (Liverpool U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R.F. (CERN) ; Gins, W. (Leuven U.) ; Gorges, C. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) et al.
The magnetic dipole and the spectroscopic quadrupole moments of the nuclear ground states in the odd-mass nickel isotopes $^{59-67}$Ni have been determined using collinear laser spectroscopy at the CERN-ISOLDE facility. They are compared to ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group (VS-IMSRG) calculations including contributions of two-body currents as well as to shell-model calculations. Structural trends in atomic nuclei from laser spectroscopy of tin / Yordanov, Deyan T. (Orsay, IPN ; CERN) ; Rodríguez, Liss V. (Orsay, IPN ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Balabanski, Dimiter L. (CERN ; MIT) et al.
Tin is the chemical element with the largest number of stable isotopes. Its complete proton shell, comparable with the closed electron shells in the chemically inert noble gases, is not a mere precursor to extended stability; since the protons carry the nuclear charge, their spatial arrangement also drives the nuclear electromagnetism [...]

The first $2^+$ and $3^-$ states of the doubly magic nucleus $^{132}$Sn are populated via safe Coulomb excitation employing the recently commissioned HIE-ISOLDE accelerator at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient MINIBALL array. The $^{132}$Sn ions are accelerated to an energy of 5.49  MeV/nucleon and impinged on a $^{206}$Pb target. [...]

Charge radius of the short-lived $^{68}$Ni and correlation with the dipole polarizability / Kaufmann, S. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Simonis, J. (U. Mainz, PRISMA) ; Bacca, S. (U. Mainz, PRISMA ; Mainz U., Inst. Kernphys. ; Helmholtz Inst., Mainz) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K. (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Cheal, B. We present the first laser spectroscopic measurement of the neutron-rich nucleus $^{68}$Ni at the \mbox{$N=40$} subshell closure and extract its nuclear charge radius. Since this is the only short-lived isotope for which the dipole polarizability $\alpha_{\rm D}$ has been measured, the combination of these observables provides a benchmark for nuclear structure theory. Res.) ; Bissell, M  L (Leuven U. ; Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Budinčević, I (Leuven U.) ; Cheal, B (Liverpool U.) ; Flanagan, K  T (Manchester U.) ; Frömmgen, N (Mainz U., Inst. Kernchem.) ; Georgiev, G (CSNSM, Orsay) et al.
Differences in mean-square nuclear charge radii of $^{100–130} \rm{Cd}$ are extracted from high-resolution collinear laser spectroscopy of the $5s^2 S_{1/2} \to 5p^2 P_{3/2}$ transition of the ion and from the $5s5p^3P_2 \to 5s6s^3S_1$ transition in atomic Cd. The radii show a smooth parabolic behavior on top of a linear trend and a regular odd-even staggering across the almost complete $sdgh$ shell. [...]
