Measurement and analysis of the $^{241}$Am neutron capture cross section at the n_TOF facility at CERN / Mendoza, E (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Cano-Ott, D (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Altstadt, S (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Andriamonje, S (IRFU, Saclay) ; Andrzejewski, J (Lodz U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Balibrea, J (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Bécares, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Barbagallo, M (INFN, Bari) ; Bečvář, F (Charles U.) et al. /n_TOF
The Am241(n,γ) cross section has been measured at the n_TOF facility at CERN with the n_TOF BaF2 Total Absorption Calorimeter in the energy range between 0.2 eV and 10 keV. Our results are analyzed as resolved resonances up to 700 eV, allowing a more detailed description of the cross section than in the current evaluations, which contain resolved resonances only up to 150–160 eV. High precision measurement of the radiative capture cross section of $^{238}$U at the n_TOF CERN facility / Mingrone, F (CERN ; INFN, Bologna) ; Altstadt, S (Goethe U., Frankfurt (main)) ; Andrzejewski, J (U. Lodz (main)) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Bécares, V (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Barbagallo, M (INFN, Bari) ; Bečvář, F (Charles U., Prague (main)) ; Belloni, F (IRFU, Saclay) ; Berthoumieux, E (IRFU, Saclay) ; Billowes, J (U. The importance of improving the accuracy on the capture cross-section of $^{238}$U has been addressed by the Nuclear Energy Agency, since its uncertainty significantly affects the uncertainties of key design parameters for both fast and thermal nuclear reactors. Within the 7th framework programme ANDES of the European Commission three different measurements have been carried out with the aim of providing the $^{238} \text{U(n,}\gamma)$ cross-section with an accuracy which varies from 1 to 5%, depending on the energy range. Measurement and analysis of the $^{241}$Am(n,γ) cross section with liquid scintillator detectors using time-of-flight spectroscopy at the n_TOF facility at CERN / n_TOF Collaboration
The Am241(n,γ) cross section has been measured at the n_TOF facility at CERN using deuterated benzene liquid scintillators, commonly known as C6D6 detectors, and time-of-flight spectrometry. The results in the resolved resonance range bring new constraints to evaluations below 150 eV, and the energy upper limit was extended from 150 to 320 eV with a total of 172 new resonances not present in current evaluations. High accuracy $^{234}$U(n,f) cross section in the resonance energy region / n_TOF Collaboration
New results are presented of the 234U neutron-induced fission cross section, obtained with high accuracy in the resonance region by means of two methods using the 235U(n,f) as reference. The recent evaluation of the 235U(n,f) obtained with SAMMY by L. [...]

The radiative capture cross section of a highly pure (99.999%), 6.125(2) grams and $9.56(5) \times 10^{−4}$ atoms/barn areal density $^{238}$U sample has been measured with the Total Absorption Calorimeter (TAC) in the 185 m flight path at the CERN neutron time-of-flight facility n_TOF. This measurement is in response to the NEA High Priority Request list, which demands an accuracy in this cross section of less than 3% below 25 keV. [...]

The new vertical neutron beam line at the CERN n_TOF facility design and outlook on the performance / n_TOF Collaboration
At the neutron time-of-flight facility n_TOF at CERN a new vertical beam line was constructed in 2014, in order to extend the experimental possibilities at this facility to an even wider range of challenging cross-section measurements of interest in astrophysics, nuclear technology and medical physics. The design of the beam line and the experimental hall was based on FLUKA Monte Carlo simulations, aiming at maximizing the neutron flux, reducing the beam halo and minimizing the background from neutrons interacting with the collimator or back-scattered in the beam dump..

The neutron time of flight (n_TOF) facility at CERN is a spallation source characterized by a white neutron spectrum. The innovative features of the facility, in the two experimental areas, (20 m and 185 m), allow for an accurate determination of the neutron cross section for radioactive samples or for isotopes with small neutron capture cross section, of interest for Nuclear Astrophysics. A fission reaction chamber based on Parallel Plate Avalanche Counters (PPACs) was built for measuring angular distributions of fragments emitted in neutron-induced fission of actinides at the neutron beam available at the Neutron Time-Of-Flight (n_TOF) facility at CERN. The detectors and the samples were tilted 45 1 with respect to the neutron beam direction to cover all the possible values of the emission angle of the fission fragments [...]
