Study of the background in the measuring station at the n_TOF facility at CERN: sources and solutions / Zanini, L ; Abbondanno, U ; Aerts, G ; Andriamonje, Samuel A ; Andrzejewski, J ; Angelopoulous, A ; Assimakopoulos, Panayiotis ; Bacri, C-O ; Badurek, G ; Berthoumieux, E et al.
A background roughly two orders of magnitude higher than tolerable was found in the n_TOF facility at CERN during the first measurements [1]. This note describes a series of additional measurements performed in the n_TOF experimental area to study the origin and the characteristics of the background. [...]

n_TOF experiment : Neutron beam profile and fast neutron background determination, using CR-39 passive neutron detector / Savvidis, I (Aristotle U., Thessaloniki) ; Lampoudis, C ; Papaevangelou, T (CERN) ; Eleftheriadis, C
A passive neutron detector, based on CR-39 plastic with the appropriate converter, was used in order to determine the neutron beam profile of n_TOF project (CERN-PS213 experiment). The main goal of the task was to have a clear view of neutrons’ spatial distribution that reach the target’s surface, at the end of the neutron beam line. [...]

Measurement of the nTOF beam profile with a micromegas detector / Pancin, J ; Abbondanno, U ; Aerts, G ; Alvarez, H ; Andriamonje, Samuel A (CEA-Saclay) ; Angelopoulos, Angelos ; Assimakopoulos, P A ; Bacri, C O ; Badurek, G ; Baumann, P et al.
A Micromegas detector was used in the neutron Time-Of-Flight (n_TOF) facility at CERN to evaluate the spatial distribution of the neutron beam as a function of its kinetic energy. This was achieved over a large range of neutron energies by using two complementary processes: at low energy by capture of a neutron via the **6Li(n, alpha)t reaction, and at high energy by elastic scattering of neutrons on gas nuclei (argon+isobutane or helium+isobutane).
