Magnets for a Muon Collider—Needs and Plans / Bottura, L (CERN) ; Accettura, C (CERN) ; Amemiya, N (Kyoto U.) ; Auchmann, B (PSI, Villigen) ; Berg, J S (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.) ; Bersani, A (INFN, Genoa) ; Bertarelli, A (CERN) ; Boattini, F (CERN) ; Bordini, B (CERN) ; Borges de Sousa, P (CERN) et al.
We describe the magnet challenges for a Muon Collider, an exciting option considered for the future of particle physics at the energy frontier. Starting from the comprehensive work performed by the US Muon Accelerator Program, we have reviewed the performance specifications dictated by beam physics and the operating conditions to satisfy the accelerator needs. The need of a fs-scale pulsed, high repetition rate, X-ray source for time-resolved fine analysis of matter (spectroscopy and photon scattering) in the linear response regime is addressed by the conceptual design of a facility called MariX (Multi-disciplinary Advanced Research Infrastructure for the generation and application of X-rays) outperforming current X-ray sources for the declared scope. MariX is based on the original design of a two-pass two-way superconducting linear electron accelerator, equipped with an arc compressor, to be operated in CW mode (1 MHz). [...]

Optimization of Electromagnetic Design After Winding Tests for the Nb3Sn Cos-Theta Dipole Model for FCC-hh / Valente, R U (LASA, Segrate) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Bersani, A (INFN, Genoa) ; Bracco, M (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) ; Burioli, S (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) ; Caiffi, B (INFN, Genoa) ; Coelli, S (LASA, Segrate) ; Matteis, E De (LASA, Segrate) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Gagno, A (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) et al.
The Future Circular Collider in hadron-hadron configuration (FCC-hh) is one of the main options for the post-LHC era of particle accelerator. The project led by CERN aims to build a 100 km-long collider with 100 TeV of center-of-mass energy, using bending dipoles able to achieve a bore field $>$14 T. [...]

Conceptual design of the HTS split coil test facility for the Muon Collider cooling section / Scarantino, G (U. Rome La Sapienza (main) ; LASA, Segrate) ; Accettura, C (CERN) ; Baggi, B (Milan U.) ; Batia, D (Milan U.) ; Bottura, L (CERN) ; Bordini, B (CERN) ; Castoldi, M (LASA, Segrate) ; Elisei, M (LASA, Segrate ; Milan, Polytech.) ; Giordano, G (LASA, Segrate ; Milan, Polytech.) ; Giove, D (LASA, Segrate) et al.
The cooling section of the Muon Collider requires a number of solenoidal coils of various diameters (0.05-2 m) and fields (2-60 T). An unusual feature of the cooling section is that the RF cavities operates under the large magnetic fields and field gradients generated by the focusing elements. [...]

Completion of the Test Phase for the Hilumi LHC Skew Quadrupole Corrector Magnet / Prioli, M (LASA, Segrate) ; Broggi, F (LASA, Segrate) ; Campaniello, M (SAES Getters, Milan) ; Canetti, M (Rial Vacuum, Parma) ; Matteis, E De (LASA, Segrate) ; Gangini, F (Rial Vacuum, Parma) ; Imeri, L (LASA, Segrate) ; Leone, A (LASA, Segrate) ; Manini, P (SAES Getters, Milan) ; Mariotto, S (LASA, Segrate) et al.
In the family of the High-Luminosity LHC high order correctors, the skew quadrupole was the most critical magnet as three assemblies with different solutions were needed to meet the design specifications. This paper summarizes the prototyping phase of the magnet, discussing the observed nonconformities, the subsequent root cause analyses, and the adopted solutions. [...]
