Tunable diamond raman lasers for resonance photo-ionization and ion beam production / Echarri , Daniel T (CERN ; Navarra U.) ; Chrysalidis , Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev , Valentin N (CERN) ; Heinke , Reinhard (CERN) ; Marsh , Bruce A. (CERN) ; Reich , Bianca B. (CERN) ; Granados , Eduardo (CERN)
Lasers with wide tunability and tailored linewidth are key assets for spectroscopy research and applications. We show that diamond, when configured as a Raman laser, provides agile access to a broad range of wavelengths while being capable of efficient and selective photo-excitation of atomic species and suitable spectroscopic applications thanks to its narrow linewidth. [...]

Optimizing Ti:Sapphire laser for quantitative biomedical imaging / James, Jeemol (Gothenburg U.) ; Thomsen, Hanna (Gothenburg U.) ; Enger, Jonas (Gothenburg U.) ; Ericson, Marica B (Gothenburg U.) ; Hanstorp, Dag (Gothenburg U.) ; Alemán Hérnandez, Felipe Ademir (Gothenburg U.) ; Rothe, Sebastian (CERN)
Ti:Sapphire lasers are powerful tools in the field of scientific research and industry for a wide range of applications such as spectroscopic studies and microscopic imaging where tunable near-infrared light is required. To push the limits of the applicability of Ti:Sapphire lasers, fundamental understanding of the construction and operation is required. [...]

Narrow linewidth operation of the RILIS titanium: Sapphire laser at ISOLDE/CERN / Rothe, S (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Rossel, R E (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Wendt, K D A (Mainz U.) ; Fedosseev, V N (CERN) ; Kron, T (Mainz U.) ; Marsh, B A (CERN)
A narrow linewidth operating mode for the Ti:sapphire laser of the CERN ISOLDE Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS) has been developed. This satisfies the laser requirements for the programme of in-source resonance ionization spectroscopy measurements and improves the selectivity for isomer separation using RILIS. [...]

Continuously tunable diamond Raman laser for resonance laser ionization / Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.) ; Wendt, Klaus D A (Mainz U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
We demonstrate a highly efficient, tunable, ∼5 GHz line- width diamond Raman laser operating at 479 nm. The diamond laser was pumped by a wavelength-tunable intra- cavity frequency-doubled titanium sapphire (Ti:Sapphire) laser operating at around 450 nm, at a repetition rate of 10 kHz with a pulse duration of 50 ns. Intracavity Frequency Doubling and Difference Frequency Mixing for Pulsed ns Ti:Sapphire Laser Systems at On-Line Radioactive Ion Beam Facilities / Sonnenschein, Volker (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Moore, Iain D (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Pohjalainen, Illka (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Reponen, Mikael (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Rothe, Sebastian (CERN) ; Wendt, Klaus (Mainz U., Inst. Phys.)
Intra-cavity second harmonic generation of a Titanium:sapphire (Ti:sa) laser system has been used to improve the conversion efficiency to the second harmonic. Over the course of several experiments performance data spanning the whole wavelength range of a Ti:sa has been collected, which may be used as a guideline for future experiments. [...]

Broadly tunable linewidth-invariant Raman Stokes comb for selective resonance photoionization / Echarri, Daniel T ; Echarri, Daniel T (CERN ; Navarra U.) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Olaizola, Santiago M (Navarra U. ; Donostia Intl. Phys. Ctr., San Sebastian) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
We demonstrate a continuously tunable, multi-Stokes Raman laser operating in the visible range (420 - 600 nm). Full spectral coverage was achieved by efficiently cascading the Raman shifted output of a tunable, frequency-doubled Ti:Sapphire laser. [...]
