Highly charged radioactive ions can be stored for extended periods of time in storage rings which allows for precision measurements of their decay modes. The straightforward motivation for performing such studies is that fully ionised nuclei or few-electron ions can be viewed as clean quantum-mechanical systems, in which the interactions of the many electrons can be either excluded or treated precisely. Stochastic cooling experiments for CSRe at IMP
/ Zhu, G.Y. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys. ; Beijing, GUCAS ; Huizhou Research Center of Ion Sciences) ; Wu, J.X. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys.) ; Caspers, F. (CERN) ; e, F. Nolden ; Zhang, Y. ; Wei, Y. ; Hu, X.J. ; Du, Z. ; Xie, H.M. ; Jing, L. et al.
A novel type of perforated travelling wave pick-up/kicker structure was developed for CSRe stochastic cooling which was originally proposed by F.Caspers at CERN. The simulated and measured results of shunt impedance of the slotted travelling wave pickup electrode are in reasonable agreement. [...]

Prompt and delayed γ-ray spectroscopy of the neutron-deficient, semi-magic isotope 187Pb has been performed using the recoil-decay and isomer-decay tagging techniques at the Argonne Gas-Filled Analyzer. A new 5.15(15)-μs isomeric state at only 308 keV above the spherical 3/2− ground state is identified and classified as a shape isomer. [...]

First observation of the decay of the 13/24$^+$ isomer in $^{183}$Hg and B(M2) systematics of neutron transitions across the nuclear chart
/ Huang, H (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys. ; Beijing, GUCAS) ; Zhang, W Q (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys. ; Beijing, GUCAS) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England, Dept. Math. ; JAEA, Ibaraki) ; Liu, Z (Lanzhou, Inst. Astron.) ; Andel, B (Comenius U.) et al.
The decay of the 13/2$^+$ isomeric state in $^{183}$Hg was observed for the first time following the $\alpha$ decay of the 13/2$^+$ isomer in $^{187}$Pb produced in the $^{142}$Nd($^{50}$Cr, 2p3n) reaction. Using $\alpha - \gamma$ delayed coincidence measurements, the half-life of this isomer was measured to be 290(30) μs. [...]

50 Years of Quantum Chromodynamics
/ Gross, Franz (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Klempt, Eberhard (Bonn U., HISKP) ; Brodsky, Stanley J. (SLAC) ; Buras, Andrzej J. (TUM-IAS, Munich) ; Burkert, Volker D. (Jefferson Lab) ; Heinrich, Gudrun (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP) ; Jakobs, Karl (Freiburg U.) ; Meyer, Curtis A. (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Orginos, Kostas (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Strickland, Michael (Kent State U.) et al.
This paper presents a comprehensive review of both the theory and experimental successes of Quantum Chromodynamics, starting with its emergence as a well defined theory in 1972-73 and following developments and results up to the present day. Topics include a review of the earliest theoretical and experimental foundations; the fundamental constants of QCD; an introductory discussion of lattice QCD, the only known method for obtaining exact predictions from QCD; methods for approximating QCD, with special focus on effective field theories; QCD under extreme conditions; measurements and predictions of meson and baryon states; a special discussion of the structure of the nucleon; techniques for study of QCD at high energy, including treatment of jets and showers; measurements at colliders; weak decays and quark mixing; and a section on the future, which discusses new experimental facilities or upgrades currently funded. Mass measurements of $^{49,50}$Sc, $^{70}$As, $^{73}$Br and $^{196}$Hg nuclides produced at CERN's radioactive-ion beam facility ISOLDE are presented. The measurements were performed at the ISOLTRAP mass spectrometer by use of the multi-reflection time-of-flight and the Penning-trap mass spectrometry techniques. [...]

The LHC beams cannot be polarized. Hence, the implementation of a dense polarized gas target at the LHCb experiment at CERN, to be operated simultaneously with beam–beam collisions, will enable high-energy fixed target interactions to explore a range of spin physics measurements. [...]
