The first high-statistics and high-resolution data set for the integrated recoil-ion energy spectrum following the $ \beta^+$ decay of$^{35}$Ar has been collected with the WITCH retardation spectrometer located at CERN-ISOLDE. Over 25 million recoil-ion events were recorded on a large-area multichannel plate (MCP) detector with a time-stamp precision of 2ns and position resolution of 0.1mm due to the newly upgraded data acquisition based on the LPC Caen FASTER protocol. Space-charge effects in Penning ion traps
/ Porobić, T (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Beck, M (Munster U.) ; Breitenfeldt, M (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Couratin, C (Caen U.) ; Finlay, P (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. The influence of space-charge on ion cyclotron resonances and magnetron eigenfrequency in a gas-filled Penning ion trap has been investigated. Off-line measurements with View the MathML source using the cooling trap of the WITCH retardation spectrometer-based setup at ISOLDE/CERN were performed. [...]

Search for a scalar component in the weak interaction
/ Zakoucky, Dalibor (Rez, Nucl. Phys. Inst.) ; Baczyk, Pavel (CERN) ; Ban, Gilles (Caen U.) ; Beck, Marcus (Munster U. ; Mainz U.) ; Breitenfeldt, Martin (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Weak interactions are described by the Standard Model which uses the basic assumption of a pure “V(ector)-A(xial vector)” character for the interaction. However, after more than half a century of model development and experimental testing of its fundamental ingredients, experimental limits for possible admixtures of scalar and/or tensor interactions are still as high as 7%. The WITCH experiment is a medium-scale experimental set-up located at ISOLDE/CERN. It combines a double Penning trap system with,a retardation spectrometer for energy measurements of recoil ions from beta decay. [...]

The WITCH experiment : Acquiring the first recoil ion spectrum
/ Kozlov, V.Yu. (Leuven U.) ; Beck, M. (Munster U.) ; Coeck, S. (Leuven U.) ; Delahaye, P. (CERN) ; Friedag, P. (Munster U.) ; Herbane, M. (Leuven U.) ; Herlert, A. (CERN) ; Kraev, I.S. (Leuven U.) ; Tandecki, M. (Leuven U.) ; Van Gorp, S. (Leuven U.) et al.
The standard model of the electroweak interaction describes beta-decay in the well-known V-A form. Nevertheless, the most general Hamiltonian of a beta-decay includes also other possible interaction types, e.g. [...]
