(Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Ullán, M. (Barcelona, Inst. Microelectron.) ; Lacker, H. (Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Rehnisch, L. (Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Sperlich, D. (Humboldt U., Berlin) ; Ariza, D. (DESY) et al.
In the high luminosity era of the Large Hadron Collider, the HL-LHC, the instantaneous luminosity is expected to reach unprecedented values, resulting in about 200 proton-proton interactions in a typical bunch crossing. To cope with the resultant increase in occupancy, bandwidth and radiation damage, the ATLAS Inner Detector will be replaced by an all-silicon system, the Inner Tracker (ITk). [...]

The planned HL-LHC (High Luminosity LHC) in 2025 is being designed to maximise the physics potential through a sizable increase in the luminosity, totalling 1x10^35 cm^-2 s^-1 after 10 years of operation. A consequence of this increased luminosity is the expected radiation damage at 3000 fb^-1, requiring the tracking detectors to withstand hadron equivalences to over 1x10^16 1 MeV neutrons per cm^2. Investigations into the impact of locally modified sensor architectures on the detection efficiency of silicon micro-strip sensors

The High Luminosity Upgrade of the LHC will require the replacement of the Inner Detector of ATLAS with the Inner Tracker (ITk) in order to cope with higher radiation levels and higher track densities. Prototype silicon strip detector modules are currently developed and their performance is studied in both particle test beams and X-ray beams. [...]

Extracting the top-quark running mass using $t\bar{t} + \hbox {1-jet}$ events produced at the Large Hadron Collider

We present the calculation of the next-to-leading order QCD corrections for top quark pair production in association with an additional jet at hadron colliders, using the modified minimal subtraction scheme to renormalize the top-quark mass. The results are compared to measurements at the Large Hadron Collider run I. [...]

In high-energy physics, there is a need to investigate alternative silicon sensor concepts that offer cost-efficient, large-area coverage. Sensors based on CMOS imaging technology present such a silicon sensor concept for tracking detectors. [...]

Ultrahigh frequency primordial gravitational waves beyond the kHz: The case of cosmic strings
/ Servant, Géraldine (DESY ; Hamburg U., Inst. Theor. Phys. II ; CERN) ; Simakachorn, Peera (Valencia U., IFIC)
We investigate gravitational-wave backgrounds (GWBs) of primordial origin that would manifest only at ultra-high frequencies, from kilohertz to 100 gigahertz, and leave no signal at either LIGO, Einstein Telescope, Cosmic Explorer, LISA, or pulsar-timing arrays. We focus on GWBs produced by cosmic strings and make predictions for the GW spectra scanning over high-energy scale (beyond $10^{10}$ GeV) particle physics parameters. [...]

The ABC130 barrel module prototyping programme for the ATLAS strip tracker
/ ATLAS Collaboration
For the Phase-II Upgrade of the ATLAS Detector, its Inner Detector, consisting of silicon pixel, silicon strip and transition radiation sub-detectors, will be replaced with an all new 100 % silicon tracker, composed of a pixel tracker at inner radii and a strip tracker at outer radii. The future ATLAS strip tracker will include 11,000 silicon sensor modules in the central region (barrel) and 7,000 modules in the forward region (end-caps), which are foreseen to be constructed over a period of 3.5 years.
