A precise measurement of 180 GeV muon energy losses in iron / ATLAS Collaboration
The energy loss spectrum of 180 GeV muons has been measured with the 5.6 m long finely segmented Module 0 of the ATLAS hadron tile calorimeter at the CERN SPS. The differential probability dP/d nu per radiation length of a fractional energy loss nu = Delta E/sub mu //E /sub mu / has been measured in the range 0.025<or= nu <or=0.97; it is compared with theoretical predictions for energy losses due to bremsstrahlung, production of electron-positron pairs, and energetic knock-on electrons. A measurement of the photonuclear interactions of 180 GeV muons in iron / Alexa, C ; Anderson, K ; Antonaki, A ; Batusov, V ; Berglund, S ; Biscarat, C ; Blanch, O ; Blancot, G ; Bogush, A A ; Bohm, C et al.
The energy spectrum and the cross section of photonuclear interactions of 180 GeV muons in iron were measured at the CERN SPS using prototype modules of the ATLAS hadron calorimeter. The differential cross section (N/sub A//A)vd sigma /dv for a muon fractional energy loss v = Delta E/sub mu //E/sub mu / was measured in the range 0.1< v <1. [...]

A measurement of the energy loss spectrum of 150 GeV muons in iron / RD34 Collaboration
The energy loss spectrum of 150 GeV muons has been measured with a prototype of the ATLAS hadron calorimeter in the H8 beam of the CERN SPS.\\ The differential probability $dP/dv$ per radiation length of a fractional energy loss $v = \Delta E_{\mu} / E_{\mu}$ has been measured in the range $v = 0.01 \div 0.95 $; it is then compared with the theoretical predictions for energy losses due to bremsstrahlung and production of electron-positron pairs or of energetic knock-on electrons.\\ The integrated probability $\int_{0.01}^{0.95} (dP/dv) dv$ is $(1.610\pm0.015_{stat.}\pm0.105_{syst.})\cdot10^{-3}$ in agreement with the theoretical predictions of $1.556\cdot10^{-3}$ and $1.619\cdot10^{-3}$. %7.8.96 - start Agreement with theory is also found in two intervals of $v$ where production of electron-positron pairs and knock-on electrons dominates. Limits on neutrino oscillations from a study of nu$_{e}$ charged current interactions / Bari-Birmingham-Brussels-Palaiseau-Rutherford-Saclay-London(UC) Collaboration
The authors have fully analysed all events with a single electron obtained in an exposure of BEBC to the 350 GeV wide-band neutrino beam at CERN. The data agrees well with expectations based on the calculated nu /sub e/ flux and assuming mu -e universality. [...]

The leading-baryon effect in Lambda /sub b//sup 0/ production in proton-proton interactions at square root s=62 GeV / Basile, M ; Bonvicini, G ; Cesare, P D ; Cifarelli, L ; Contin, A ; D'Ali, G ; Esposito, B ; Giusti, P ; Massam, Thomas ; Nania, R et al.
The measurement of the longitudinal-momentum production distribution of the 'beauty'-flavoured baryon Lambda /sub b//sup 0/, in the reaction pp to e/sup +/+ Lambda /sub b//sup 0/+anything at square root s=62 GeV, shows clear evidence for a leading-baryon effect in Lambda /sub b//sup 0/ production. A comparison with the data on Lambda /sub c //sup +/, Lambda /sub s//sup 0/ and Lambda /sub s//sup 0/ production is also given. [...]

Reports on the first measurement of the transverse momentum production distribution of the Lambda /sub c//sup +/ charmed baryon in the reaction pp to Lambda /sub c//sup +/+e/sup -/+X. The Lambda /sub c //sup +/ is identified by its decay mode Lambda /sub c//sup +/ to pK /sup -/ pi /sup +/. [...]

Observation of an excess of nu$_{e}$, n$\overline{u}_{e}$ events in a beam dump experiment at 400 GeV / Gargamelle Collaboration
A beam dump experiment has been performed at CERN in Gargammelle using the neutrino facility to look for penetrating particles produced either directly in the beam interaction or by prompt decay of new particles. A total of 32 interactions with a visible energy greater than 10 GeV has been found, classified, after corrections, into 18 charged current nu /sub mu / or nu /sub mu /, 5.1 neutral current and 8.9 nu /sub e/ or nu /sub e/ charged current events.
