NNLO QCD$\times$EW corrections to Z production in the $q\bar{q}$ channel / Bonciani, Roberto (Rome U. ; INFN, Rome) ; Buccioni, Federico (Oxford U.) ; Rana, Narayan (INFN, Milan) ; Triscari, Ilario (Milan U.) ; Vicini, Alessandro (CERN ; Milan U. ; INFN, Milan)
We present the first results for the ${\cal O}(\alpha\alpha_s)$ corrections to the total partonic cross section of the process $q\bar q\to Z+X$, with the complete set of contributions, that include photonic and massive weak gauge boson effects. The results are relevant for the precise determination of the hadronic $Z$ boson production cross section. [...]

MariX, an advanced MHz-class repetition rate X-ray source for linear regime time-resolved spectroscopy and photon scattering / Serafini, L (INFN, Milan ; LASA, Segrate) ; Bacci, A (INFN, Milan ; LASA, Segrate) ; Bellandi, A (DESY) ; Bertucci, M (INFN, Milan ; LASA, Segrate) ; Bolognesi, M (Milan U.) ; Bosotti, A (INFN, Milan ; LASA, Segrate) ; Broggi, F (INFN, Milan ; LASA, Segrate) ; Calandrino, R (Milan U., Inst. The need of a fs-scale pulsed, high repetition rate, X-ray source for time-resolved fine analysis of matter (spectroscopy and photon scattering) in the linear response regime is addressed by the conceptual design of a facility called MariX (Multi-disciplinary Advanced Research Infrastructure for the generation and application of X-rays) outperforming current X-ray sources for the declared scope. MariX is based on the original design of a two-pass two-way superconducting linear electron accelerator, equipped with an arc compressor, to be operated in CW mode (1 MHz). [...]

Efficient $2^3S$ positronium production by stimulated decay from the $3^3P$ level / AEgIS Collaboration
We investigate experimentally the possibility of enhancing the production of $2^3S$ positronium atoms by driving the $1^3S$-$3^3P$ and $3^3P$-$2^3S$ transitions, overcoming the natural branching ratio limitation of spontaneous decay from $3^3P$ to $2^3S$. The decay of $3^3P$ positronium atoms towards the $2^3S$ level has been effciently stimulated by a 1312.2nm broadband IR laser pulse. [...]

Calibration and Equalisation of Plastic Scintillator Detectors for Antiproton Annihilation Identification Over Positron/Positronium Background / Zurlo, Nicola (U. In this contribution, the system of the external plastic scintillator slabs of the AEgIS experiment is presented. These slabs, surrounding the superconducting magnet and operating at room temperature, are read out by photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) that are calibrated and equalised to be exploited as a whole detector with useful segmentation and redundancy to effectively detect single antiparticle annihilations. We present the two-loop mixed strong-electroweak virtual corrections to the charged current Drell-Yan process. The final-state collinear singularities are regularised by the lepton mass. [...]

Experiments with mid-heavy antiprotonic atoms in AE$\overline{g}$IS / AEgIS Collaboration
ments which provide the most precise data on the strong interaction between protons and antiprotons and of the neutron skin of many nuclei thanks to the clean annihilation signal. In most of these experiments, the capture process of low energy antiprotons was done in a dense target leading to a significant suppression of specific transitions between deeply bound levels that are of particular interest. A new look at the estimation of the PDF uncertainties in the determination of electroweak parameters at hadron colliders / Bagnaschi, Emanuele (PSI, Villigen) ; Vicini, Alessandro (CERN ; Milan U. ; INFN, Milan)
We discuss the determination of electroweak parameters from hadron collider observables, focusing on the $W$ boson mass measurement. We revise the procedures adopted in the literature to include in the experimental analysis the uncertainty due to our imperfect knowledge of the proton structure. [...]
