A new detector for deep inelastic physics / Kostka, Peter (Liverpool U.) ; Polini, Alessandro (INFN, Bologna) ; South, David M. (DESY)
The Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) is a proposed upgrade to the LHC, to provide high energy, high luminosity electron-proton and electron-ion collisions to run concurrently with Phase 2 of the LHC. The key elements of the LHeC detector and the requirements from the physics programme are outlined, followed by a brief description of the baseline LHeC detector design..

The LHeC Detector / Kostka, Peter (Liverpool U.) ; Polini, Alessandro (INFN, Bologna) ; South, David M. (DESY) /on behalf of the LHeC Collaboration
The Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) is a proposed upgrade to the LHC, to provide high energy, high luminosity electron-proton collisions to run concurrently with Phase 2 of the LHC. The baseline design of a detector for the LHeC is described, driven by the requirements from the projected physics programme and including some preliminary results from first simulations..

This paper is focused on possible designs and predicted performances of two proposed highenergy, high-luminosity electron-hadron colliders: eRHIC at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL, Upton, NY, USA) and LHeC at Organisation Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire (CERN, Geneve, Switzerland). The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC, BNL) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC, CERN) are designed as versatile colliders. [...]

Improved measurement of parton distribution functions and $\alpha_s(M_Z)$ with the LHeC / Cooper-Sarkar, A.M. (Oxford U.) /LHeC study Group Collaboration
The potential of the LHeC, a future electron-proton collider, for precision Deep Inelastic Scattering measurements is reviewed with particular emphasis on the reduction of uncertainties on the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton and on the measurement of $\alpha_s(M_Z)$. The interpretation of possible Beyond Standard Model (BSM) signals at the LHC is crucially dependent on precise knowledge of the predictions of the Standard Model (SM) and the uncertainties on PDFs and $\alpha_s(M_Z) $are a limiting factor. [...]

Deflecting Synchrotron Radiation from the Interaction Region of a Linac-Ring LHeC / Ciftci, A K (Ankara U.) ; Ciftci, R (Ankara U.) ; Zimmermann, F (CERN)
In a linac-ring electron-proton collider based on the LHC, before and after the collision point the electron beam can be deflected with weak dipole magnets positioned in front of the superconducting final quadrupole triplets of the 7-TeV proton beam. Significant synchrotron radiation may be produced when the electron beam, of energy 60-140 GeV, passes through these dipole magnets. [...]
