In high-energy particle accelerators, circulating particle beams with high intensity interact electromagnetically with their surroundings (i.e., metallic vacuum chambers of various geometries). These electromagnetic interactions, which are typically described through the concept of beam-coupling impedance, can represent a serious issue in terms of stability of the particle beam and heating on the accelerator structures. Mitigation Strategies for the Instabilities Induced by the Fundamental Mode of the HL-LHC Crab Cavities / Giacomel, Lorenzo (CERN) ; Baudrenghien, Philippe (CERN) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN)
The transverse impedance is one of the potentially limiting effects for the performance of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). In the current LHC, the impedance is dominated by the resistive-wall contribution of the collimators at typical bunch-spectrum frequencies, and is of broad-band nature. [...]

Conceptual RF design and modelling of a 704 MHz cavity for the muon cooling complex / Barbagallo, Carmelo (CERN) ; Grudiev, Alexej (CERN)
The Muon Cooling Complex is a crucial component of the future high-energy Muon Collider, where the ionization cooling technique is employed to reduce muon beam emittance by several orders of magnitude. This cooling technique necessitates the utilization of normal conducting, RF-accelerating cavities operating within a multi-Tesla magnetic field. [...]

High currents of bunched electron and positron beams plan to be used in the proposed FCC-ee collider to achieve a high luminosity. Naturally, the impedance of the interaction region of the FCC must be as small as possible. [...]

Recent updates in the impedance characterization of the CERN PS Booster Finemet RF system / Neroni, Michela (CERN ; Rome U.) ; Albright, Simon (CERN) ; Damerau, Heiko (CERN) ; Gnemmi, Giulia (CERN) ; Haase, Matthias (CERN) ; Mostacci, Andrea (Rome U.) ; Paoluzzi, Mauro (CERN) ; Vollinger, Christine (CERN)
During the last long shutdown of the accelerators at CERN (LS2), the main radio frequency system of the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) was upgraded. A widebandsystem with Finemet magnetic alloy cavities driven by solid-state amplifiers replaced several different ferrite-loaded cavities. [...]

Studies and mitigation of TMCI in FCC-ee / Migliorati, Mauro (Rome U. ; INFN, Rome) ; Zannini, Carlo (CERN) ; Antuono, Chiara (CERN) ; Gibellieri, Dora (Rome U. ; CERN) ; Zobov, Mikhail (Frascati) ; Behtouei, Mostafa (Frascati) ; Soos, Roxana (IJCLab, Orsay ; CERN) ; Zhang, Yuan (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.)
Previous studies have identified turbulent mode coupling instability (TMCI) as one of the most severe single-bunch instabilities in the FCC-ee collider, potentially limiting its performance. Its threshold is influenced by both transverse and longitudinal wakefields arising from vacuum chamber resistive wall effects, discontinuities, and beam-beam interactions, the latter of which can be seen as a transverse cross-wake force. In this paper, we investigate the TMCI using the most recent collider parameters and an updated impedance model. SPS injection kicker system: 2023 operational experience and upgrade proposals for high-luminosity LHC / Favia, Giorgia (CERN) ; Zannini, Carlo (CERN) ; Standen, Dylan (CERN) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN) ; Ducimetière, Laurent (CERN) ; Feliciano, Luis (CERN) ; Barnes, Michael (CERN) ; Diaz Zumel, Miguel (CERN) ; Trubacova, Pavlina (CERN) ; Kramer, Thomas (CERN) et al.
The SPS injection kicker system comprises twelve MKP-S (small aperture) modules and four MKP-L (large aperture) modules. An upgraded MKP-L magnet was installed in the SPS, during December 2022, in view of the higher beam intensity needed in the future for High-Luminosity-LHC. [...]

Impedance and thermal studies of the CERN SPS wire scanners and mitigation of wire heating / de la Fuente, Elena (CERN) ; Papazoglou, I (CERN) ; Sito, Leonardo (CERN) ; Andreazza, William (CERN) ; Antuono, Chiara (CERN) ; Bruchon, N (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) ; Emery, J (CERN) ; Harrison, Anthony (CERN) et al.
All wires of the four CERN SPS rotational wirescanners broke when increasing the beam intensity towards the target for the LHC Injector Upgrade in 2023. Impedance and thermal studies were immediately launched, with simulations and measurements indicating that beam induced heating from resonant modes on the thin wire could be sufficient to cause these breakages. Assessment of the real part of the impedance of the LHC collimators with instability growth rate measurements / Giacomel, Lorenzo (CERN) ; Lindstrom, Bjorn (CERN ; Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Rumolo, Giovanni (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN)
The impedance of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a source of instabilities and has to be monitored closely. It is usually assessed by measuring the tune-shift vs intensity, in particular at top energy where it is the most critical, as the collimators are the closest to the beam. [...]
