High-density gas target at the LHCb experiment
/ Boente Garcia, O. (LLR, Palaiseau) ; Bregliozzi, G. (CERN) ; Calegari, D. (CERN) ; Carassiti, V. (INFN, Ferrara) ; Ciullo, G. (INFN, Ferrara ; Ferrara U.) ; Coco, V. (CERN) ; Collins, P. The recently installed internal gas target at LHCb presents exceptional opportunities for an extensive physics program for heavy-ion, hadron, spin, and astroparticle physics. A storage cell placed in the LHC primary vacuum, an advanced Gas Feed System, the availability of multi-TeV proton and ion beams and the recent upgrade of the LHCb detector make this project unique worldwide. LHCspin: a polarized internal target for the LHC
/ Lenisa, Paolo (Ferrara U. ; INFN, Ferrara) ; Steffens, Erhard (Erlangen - Nuremberg U.) ; Carassiti, Vito (INFN, Ferrara ; Ferrara U.) ; Ciullo, Giuseppe (Ferrara U. ; INFN, Ferrara) ; Di Nezza, Pasquale (Frascati) ; Pappalardo, Luciano (Ferrara U. ; INFN, Ferrara) ; Vasilyev, Alexander A (PNPI, CSTD)
The LHCspin project aims to bring both unpolarized and polarized physics at the LHC through the installation of a gaseous fixed target at the upstream end of the LHCb detector. The forward geometry of the LHCb spectrometer (2 < eta < 5) is perfectly suited for the reconstruction of particles produced in fixed-target collisions. [...]

Physics perspectives with AFTER@LHC (A Fixed Target ExpeRiment at LHC)

AFTER@LHC is an ambitious fixed-target project in order to address open questions in the domain of proton and neutron spins, Quark Gluon Plasma and high-$x$ physics, at the highest energy ever reached in the fixed-target mode. Indeed, thanks to the highly energetic 7 TeV proton and 2.76 A.TeV lead LHC beams, center-of-mass energies as large as $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 115 GeV in pp/pA and $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 72 GeV in AA can be reached, corresponding to an uncharted energy domain between SPS and RHIC. The SMOG2 project
/ Di Nezza, Pasquale (INFN Frascati) ; Carassiti, Vittore (Universita e INFN, Ferrara (IT)) ; Ciullo, Giuseppe (Universita e INFN, Ferrara (IT)) ; Lenisa, Paolo (Universita e INFN, Ferrara (IT)) ; Pappalardo, Luciano Libero (Universita e INFN, Ferrara (IT)) ; Steffens, Erhard (University of Erlangen (Germany)) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Vasilyev, Alexander (Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute, Gatchina (Russia)) ; Boscolo Meneguolo, Caterina (Universita e INFN, Padova (IT)) ; Bregliozzi, Giuseppe (CERN) et al.
"A proposal for an upgraded version of the existing gas injection system for the LHCb experiment (SMOG) is presented. The core idea of the project, called SMOG2, is the use of a storage cell for the injected gas to be installed upstream of the VELO detector [...]
