The BRAN luminosity detectors for the LHC
/ Matis, Howard S. (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Placidi, Massimo (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Ratti, Alessandro (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Turner, William C. (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Miyamoto, Ryoichi (ESS, Lund)
This paper describes the several phases which led, from the conceptual design, prototyping, construction and tests with beam, to the installation and operation of the BRAN (Beam RAte of Neutrals) relative luminosity monitors for the LHC. The detectors have been operating since 2009 to contribute, optimize and maintain the accelerator performance in the two high luminosity interaction regions (IR), the IR1 (ATLAS) and the IR5 (CMS). Operational Results of the LHC Luminosity Monitors until LS1
/ Ratti, Alessandro (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Hedges, Samuel (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Jones, John (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Matis, Howard (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Placidi, Massimo (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Turner, William (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Vytla, Vamsi (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Miyamoto, Ryoichi (ESS, Lund)
The monitors for the high luminosity regions in the LHC have been operating since 2009 to optimize the LHC's luminosity. The devices are gas ionization chambers inside the neutral particle absorber 140 m from the interaction point and monitor showers produced by high energy neutral particles from the collisions. [...]

Using the BRAN Luminosity Detectors for Beam Emittance Monitoring During LHC Physics Runs
/ Ratti, A (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Matis, HS (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Placidi, M (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Turner, W C (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Miyamoto, R (Brookhaven) ; White, S (Brookhaven) ; Bravin, E (CERN) ; McCrory, E (Fermilab) ; Lahey, T (SLAC)
The BRAN Ionization Chambers installed at the IP1 and IP5 Interaction Points of the LHC provide a relative measurement of the total and bunch-by-bunch luminosities. This information, combined with the logged bunch charges from a fast BCT monitor, offers the possibility of evaluating the Interaction Area in collision for each of the colliding bunch pairs and monitor its time evolution. Operational Results from the LHC Luminosity Monitors
/ Miyamoto, R (BNL, C-A Dept.) ; Bravin, E (CERN) ; Matis, H S (LBL, Berkeley) ; Ratti, A (LBL, Berkeley) ; Turner, W C (LBL, Berkeley) ; Yaver, H (LBL, Berkeley) ; Stezelberger, T (LBL, Berkeley)
The Luminosity Monitors for the high luminosity regions in the LHC have been operating to monitor and optimize the luminosity since the beginning of the 2009 run. The device is a gas ionization chamber, which has the ability to resolve bunch-by-bunch luminosity as well as survive the extreme levels of radiation at nominal high intensity LHC operations. [...]

The aim of CERN large hadron collider (LHC) is to collide protons and heavy ions with centre of mass energies up to 14 zTeV. In order to monitor and optimize the collision rates special detectors have been developed and installed around the four luminous interaction regions. [...]
