Inner Tracking System for ALICE: Conceptual Design of Mechanics, Cooling and Alignment / ALICE Collaboration
We present here the basic ideas for the design of the support and cooling system for the Inner Tracking System of the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The cooling scheme, which must provide 5 kW heat drain from the electronics situated inside the tracking volume and stabilise the temperature field for the Si-drift detectors within 0.1 ¡C, is the starting point of the design.
