The ATLAS Intensity upgrade: Project overview and online operating experience

ATLAS, the world's first accelerator to use RF superconductivity for ion acceleration, has undergone a major facility upgrade with the goals of significantly increased stable-beam current for experiments and improved transmission for all beams. The dominant components of the upgrade are a) new CW-RFQ to replace the first three low β resonators, b) a new cryostat of seven β=0.077 quarter-wave resonators demonstrating world-record accelerating fields, c) an improved cryogenics system, and d) the retirement of the original tandem injector. R&D Status of the 700 MHz, 1MW Klystron for PEFP

KAPRA (Korea Accelerator and Plasma Research Association) are undertaking the first phase R&D; for the 1 MW, CW 700 MHz klystron, which is targeting the future stage of the PEFP (Proton Engineering Frontier Project) accelerator at KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). The objectives of the first phase R&D; are 1) setting up all infra structures/procedures for the design and fabrication, 2) developing a prototype klystron for proofs of principles, and 3) making a performance test of the prototype at a reduced duty. Higher order mode analysis of the SNS superconducting linac

Higher order modes (HOM's) of monopoles, dipoles, quadrupoles and sextupoles in beta =0.61 and beta =0.81 6-cell superconducting (SC) cavities for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) project, have been found up to about 3 GHz and their properties such as R/Q, trapping possibility, etc have been figured out concerning manufacturing imperfection.
