Impact of beam asymmetries at the Future Circular Collider <math display="inline"><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>-</mo></msup></math> / Kicsiny, Peter (CERN ; EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Nguyen, Khoi Le Nguyen (Cambridge U.) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Seidel, Mike (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne ; PSI, Villigen)
In this paper we present detailed simulations with asymmetric initial beam settings in the context of the proposed Future Circular Collider e+e- (FCC-ee) using the Xsuite framework. We compare simulated equilibrium bunch sizes and luminosities against an already existing analytical model, which shows remarkably good agreement for realistic small perturbations. [...]

Xsuite is a modular simulation package bringing to a single flexible and modern framework capabilities of different tools developed at CERN in the past decades notably MAD-X Sixtrack Sixtracklib COMBI and PyHEADTAIL. The suite consists of a set of Python modules (Xobjects, Xpart, Xtrack, Xcoll, Xfields, Xdeps) that can be flexibly combined together and with other accelerator-specific and general-purpose python tools to study complex simulation scenarios. Multiturn simulation of radiative Bhabha scattering in the equivalent photon approximation / Kicsiny, Peter (CERN ; EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN) ; Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Seidel, Mike (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne)
In this paper, we present a Monte Carlo event generator for radiative Bhabha scattering, based on the method of equivalent photons, and optimized for multiturn tracking simulations in the xsuite framework. We demonstrate the accuracy of the event generator with successful benchmarks of the luminosity and event cross section against currently existing alternative tools. [...]

Selected advances in the accelerator design of the Future Circular Electron-Positron Collider (FCC-ee) / FCC Collaboration
In autumn 2023, the FCC Feasibility Study underwent a crucial “mid-term review”. We describe some accelerator performance risks for the proposed future circular electron-positron collider, FCC-ee, identified for, and during, the mid-term review. [...]

Physics-based deep learning / Kicsiny, Peter (speaker) (EPFL)
Abstract Numerical simulations have a long history of reshaping the way we model and understand physical phenomena and help to optimize processes, predict behavior and discover new principles. In the past decade machine learning, especially deep learning, has become a popular new tool that industries in many domains are starting to pick up not only to exploit data patterns but as a complementary approach to these classical numerical simulations [...]

Impact of bunch intensity asymmetry in colliders featuring strong beamstrahlung / Le Nguyen Nguyen, Khoi (CERN ; EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne ; Cambridge U.) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Kicsiny, Peter (CERN ; EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne)
An analytical investigation of beamstrahlung-induced blow-up in Gaussian beams with arbitrary dimensions is presented, using various approximations for the strength of the hourglass effect and crab waist scheme. [...]

Towards Beam-Beam Simulations for FCC-ee / Kicsiny, Peter (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Buffat, Xavier (CERN) ; Iadarola, Giovanni (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (EPFL-ISIC, Lausanne) ; Schulte, Daniel (CERN) ; Seidel, Mike (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne ; PSI, Villigen)
The FCC-ee (Future Circular Collider) lepton collider is currently the most favored next generation research infrastructure project at CERN, aimed at studying properties of standard model particles with the highest precision ever. The chosen parameters of the machine yield unprecedented conditions which give rise to previously unseen dynamical effects during collisions. [...]

Multiplatform Programming with Python / Kicsiny, Peter (speaker) (EPFL)
In this course the students can learn how to write platform agnostic code using Python (and some C). Some knowledge (~1 year experience) of these two languages is recommended. The lecture will focus on how Python can easily be combined with C for CPU and GPU programming, by exploiting the advantages of both languages. [...]

Radiation Simulations group of the Beam Radiation Instrumentation and Luminosity Project of the CMS experiment provide for CMS radiation environment and radiation effects simulation and benchmarking of these calculations with CMS data and other data from LHC measuring devices. We present some results of such benchmarking and the reliability analysis of the simulation procedures for radiation environment calculations at the LHC..
