First Winding Trial for the Superconducting Ion Gantry (SIG) Dipole Demonstrator Magnet / Prioli, M (LASA, Segrate) ; Bianchi, E (INFN, Genoa) ; Carloni, A G (LASA, Segrate) ; Cereseto, R (INFN, Genoa) ; De Matteis, E (LASA, Segrate) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Gagno, A (INFN, Genoa) ; Levi, F (INFN, Genoa) ; Mariotto, S (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Musenich, R (INFN, Genoa) et al.
The Superconducting Ion Gantry (SIG) project aims to design, construct, and test a curved superconducting dipole demonstrator magnet for an ion gantry (up to a rigidity of 6.6 Tm). The main demonstrator magnet parameters are a dipolar field of 4 T generated into a toroidal aperture with an 80 mm diameter, 1.65 m curvature radius, and 30° angular sector. [...]

Status of Nb-Ti CCT Magnet EU Programs for Hadron Therapy / Toral, F (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Calzolaio, C (PSI, Villigen) ; Carloni, A (INFN, Milan) ; Ceruti, G (CERN) ; De Matteis, E (INFN, Milan) ; Kirby, G (CERN) ; Lecrevisse, T (Saclay) ; Mariotto, S (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Munilla, J (Madrid, CIEMAT) et al.
The use of Canted Cosine Theta (CCT) magnets for accelerator applications has gained popularity due to their ease of manufacturing and assembly. In the context of two EU-Horizon2020-funded projects, HITRIplus and IFAST, the development of two 80 mm free bore and 4 T central field CCT dipoles for use in ion therapy (hadron therapy) is underway. Experience on Series Production of the HL-LHC Superferric High Order Corrector Magnets / Statera, M (Milan U.) ; Prioli, M (Milan U.) ; Broggi, F (Milan U.) ; De Matteis, E (Milan U.) ; Imeri, L (Milan U.) ; Leone, A (Milan U.) ; Mariotto, S (Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Paccalini, A (Milan U.) ; Pasini, A (Milan U.) ; Pedrini, D (Milan U.) et al.
INFN has developed at the LASA lab (Milano, Italy) the High Order (HO) corrector magnets for the High Luminosity-LHC (HL-LHC) project, which will equip the new interaction regions. All the HO correctors, from skew quadrupole to dodecapole, are based on a novel superferric design, never used so far in high energy colliders, which allows a relatively simple, modular, and easy way to construct a magnet. Status on the Development of the Nb$_3$Sn 12 T Falcon Dipole for the FCC-hh- / Valente, R U (LASA, Segrate) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Bersani, A (INFN, Genoa) ; Bracco, M (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) ; Burioli, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Caiffi, B (INFN, Genoa) ; Matteis, E De (LASA, Segrate) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Gagno, A (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) ; Levi, F (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) et al.
The quest for advancing science and technology continues with the Future Circular Collider (FCC), which requires 16 T bending dipoles to be installed along its 100 km tunnel to achieve a center-of-mass energy of 100 TeV, in its hadron-hadron version. The promising Nb$_3$Sn technology for superconducting magnets presents a potential solution for large-scale production. [...]

Preliminary Study of 4 T Superconducting Dipole for a Light Rotating Gantry for Ion-Therapy / Rossi, L (Milan U. ; LASA, Segrate) ; Benedetto, E ; De Matteis, E (LASA, Segrate) ; Farinon, S (INFN, Genoa) ; Felcini, E (CNAO, Milan) ; Karppinen, M (CERN) ; Mariotto, S (Milan U. ; LASA, Segrate) ; Musenich, R (INFN, Genoa) ; Perini, D (CERN) ; Prioli, M (LASA, Segrate) et al.
A collaboration between CERN, CNAO, INFN, and MedAustron has been formed aiming at designing a light rotating gantry suitable for hadron therapy based on 430 MeV/n carbon ion beams. After a first design for a 3 T dipole field, as the backbone of the gantry magnetic system, now the collaboration is looking at an alternative design, for at least 4 T field with a faster ramp rate. Magnetic Measurements Results and Analysis of the First Batches of Superferric Magnets for the HL-LHC High Order Field Correction / Matteis, E De (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Mariotto, S (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) ; Broggi, F (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Paccalini, A (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Palmisano, A (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Pasini, A (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Pedrini, D (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Prioli, M (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Rossi, L (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U.) ; Sorbi, M (LASA, Segrate ; Milan U. ; INFN, Milan) et al.
In agreement with CERN the LASA laboratory of INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics) of Milan has carried out the industrial development of a novel type of magnet, for the High Order (HO) correctors of the High Luminosity - LHC (HL-LHC) project. These corrector magnets are based on a superferric design and will be installed in the new HL-LHC insertion regions for the ATLAS and CMS Experiments at CERN. [...]

The future of the particle accelerators points to a new CERN’s circular collider with an order of magnitude increase in the center-of-mass energy compared to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). To achieve this increase from 14 TeV to 100 TeV a 100 km tunnel will be required to host the collider. [...]
