Results of an energy-dependent phase-shift analysis for pi pi scattering between 900 and 1120 MeV mass are presented using data of the reactions pi /sup +or-/p to pi /sup +or-/ pi /sup +/n and pi /sup -/p to K/sup +/K/sup -/n. The I=0 S-wave becomes highly inelastic at KK threshold and accounts for the structure in the pi pi system. [...]

A sample of 318000 events of the reaction pi /sup -/p to pi /sup -/ pi /sup +/n at 17.2 GeV/c with 94000 events in the mass interval of the rho meson (0.71<M( pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/)<0.83 GeV/c/sup 2/) has been measured in a spark-chamber experiment. For these latter events the pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ decay angular distribution parametrized in spherical harmonic moments has been studied as a function of t, the four-momentum transfer squared between p and n. A sample of 10350 pi /sup -/p to ppn events with peripherally produced pp pairs has been observed in a spark chamber experiment. The differential cross-section d sigma /dt and the pp decay angular distribution suggest that one-pion exchange dominates the production process. [...]

The pi pi phase-shifts have been determined by a Chew-Low extrapolation in the pi pi mass region from 500 to 1500 MeV using data of a spark chamber experiment on pi /sup -/p to pi /sup -/ pi /sup +/n at 17.2 GeV/c, which yielded 318000 events. The authors find an I=0 s- wave phase shift which increases slowly, passing through 90 degrees near 900 MeV, and then rises very rapidly. [...]
