The magnesium diboride (MgB2) demonstrator magnet and the team

Date: 06-10-2023

In the Large Magnet Facility hall on CERN's Meyrin site one can see here the magnesium diboride (MgB2) demonstrator magnet. This new type of demonstrator magnet is made of a superconducting coil wound from a magnesium diboride (MgB2) cable mounted inside an iron yoke. A new generation of iron-dominated electromagnets could pave the way for more energy-efficient electromagnets.
