Description
An overview of the principles of injection and extraction for particle accelerators is given. Injection and extraction systems for the electron-positron Future Circular Collider (FCCee) booster ring were designed and modelled using MADX. Early models showed that injection using the previously designed optics is unfeasible. The optics of the injection region were redesigned to provide more space between the magnets for injection and increase the beta function at the septum. A feasible injection system using two kickers, an orbit bump, a thin electrostatic septum and magnetic septum is presented. A feasible extraction system with unchanged optics is also presented, using ten kickers and two septa. Further studies are suggested to optimise these systems.
