Abstract Recent results in meson spectroscopy with the CMS detector are presented. In particular, the first observation by the CMS Collaboration of two excited $B_c^+$ states and the measurement of the $B_c^+(2S)$ mass using proton-ptoton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $13\,\mathrm{TeV}$ are reported.
