| Abstract | Many new excited states of $D$ mesons have been discovered in the last few years, bringing renewed interest to heavy meson spectroscopy. In a series of publications, the LHCb collaboration has studied the properties of the $D$ meson excited states using decays of $B$ mesons into a $D$ meson plus light hadrons. These results are reviewed in this paper. |
