Abstract | A field-free region can be created within a dipole magnet using a superconducting shield, which maintains persistent eddy currents induced during the ramp-up of the magnet. We will study the possibility to realize a high-field superconducting septum magnet using this principle. Properties of different configurations will be presented, and compared to the requirements of the FCC dump system. |
