I begin using a rich red stoneware clay body which will later give the finished piece a delightfully soft warm aesthetic. I start by connecting two simple pinch pot bowls together rim to rim creating a voluminous hollow form. i then let the clay set up a bit before manipulating the form into a dinosaur shape. Later, I add major and minor details as the clay slowly dries for firing including fun patterns and modern twists. A perfect piece for a small space such as your desk or mantle. Bright glazes including gold luster give these sculptures a playful and modern style. The lustrous gold accents are created using real 22 kt gold overglaze which contains 10% real gold. The brilliance of these accents is difficult to photograph but the results are stunning. A perfect one-of-a-kind gift for those of us who love dinosaurs.
