Make a Free Little Library for the Neighborhood
Little Free Library is a creative idea, thought up by Todd Bol and Rick Brooks, that aims to promote literacy and bring communities together by putting up mini libraries in neighborhoods around the world. Started in 2009, it's a nonprofit that seeks to place these small, accessible book exchange boxes right in front of a house or on a street corner. (Take a book, return a book.)
Book It: Bring a Mini Library to Your Front Yard
Little Free Library, houzz: It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too. It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's something better… It's Super Library!
The Little Free Library - Todd Bol, an international development consultant - came up with this idea: The Little Free Library, a nonprofit that seeks to place small, accessible book exchange boxes in neighborhoods around the world. Users can purchase the boxes directly from LFL’s website, download plans to build their own or completely wing it. As of 2013 there are 6,000 LFLs across the planet.

Kathy Ross. Utterson, Ontario, Canada. We live in "cottage country" on Tribble Road. Most of our neighbors come here for the summer season. I have a large collection of books that I want to share with them. Building a Little Free Library is a great way to share and to get to know the people who vacation on the lake near our rural road. I hope they all enjoy it!
