Kennedy's Shirt

I've had a few questions about Kennedy's One Month onesie so I thought I would share it so you can make your own if you'd like. I got the idea from Hilary (a private blog) who was making them for a shower gift. Great idea! They made their own custom circles but I'm lazy and did it this way-

I used a pink tab from Katie Pertiet's digital Little Round tabs for the entire background and resized it to 4" in photoshop.

Next I opened a new layer and typed the number "1" in Times new Roman.

In another new layer I typed "month" using Ali Edward's handwriting font found here.

I flipped all the text Horizontally so it would print with the text backwards and printed it on an iron on sheet. If your baby isn't too fat for her onesie by picture time... ahem... then your finished image won't crack like mine did.

I saved the file in layers instead of merging them all so I could change the number according to her age later without needing to make a new one. Viola`.

Hope that helps. We are getting ready for Kennedy's blessing tomorrow but if you have any other questions I'll be back Monday. Have a great weekend!

If you're not lazy like I am...

And you would like to make your own headbands and tutu here are the links to some tutorials I saw today. They look really easy. If you can shower, put on make-up, and wear a bra you can do it. Make-up...sighhh, one of these days.

The headband tutorial is by Elizabeth Kartchner who, if you don't live in a paper bag like I do, you'll recognize from Creating Keepsakes. I got the link from one of my most favorite blogs- 30 days. If you haven't been to 30 days go, right now, then come back here ;o).

The tutu tutorial is by Mama's Doodles. You'll have to go to her site for the picture but I promise it's full and fluffy and cute and being a girl who only knows how to sew a tutu and cry when it rips on my machine, this looks very tempting. I found her link from Skip to my Lou, another favorite blog of mine.

In fact both Skip to my Lou and 30 days have enough great tutorials to keep a girl busy (while watching Grey's Anatomy) that you might get all your handmade Christmas gifts done by Thanksgiving. Only if you meet the 3 criteria above. Sigghhh... make-up.

Oh, and thank you Bethany for agreeing to swap with me. She makes the cutest stuff on her blog and in her Etsy store and most importantly she's making me a tutu. I don't have to do it -yay!

I have a proposition...

So I was thinking (I rarely do these days) how fun it would be to take pictures of Kennedy in a bright pink tutu. I'm not really a fru fru (froo-froo, frough frough?) type of person but darn it she might be some day and wonder why I never took her pictures as a baby in a cute tutu. I'm just thinking ahead and trying to save myself some $$ on therapy I'm sure the kids will need later.

Here's the deal- I want a bright pink really full and fun baby size tutu but I don't have access to nice pink tulle and absolutely no time. None. I did manage to brush my teeth today which is HUGE! Did I mention I put on a bra too, please hold your applause, Kennedy's asleep and if she wakes up no dinner tonight.

I would also like to put something cute on her noggin and I can't find a single cute headband of Kaci's. I used to have some cute headbands with a ribbony thing for interchanging bows and they are no where to be found. I'm sure the guy who moved in our old house found them in a closet and uses them for his cats or something. Just kidding I know him and I'm sure he puts them on his dog. Lucky pooch.

I was thinking that I have a bunch of crafty readers and I'm sure some crafty lurkers that might just have some of these things laying around. I have a pile of booties just laying around and I thought I would propose a trade? If you have access to a pink tutu like this or a couple of headbands like this or this you could send my way, I could send a pair of booties and maybe a matching bib your direction? I can't do a custom order it would have to be a pair I have already made but If any one's interested let me know at dontlickthefloor at hotmail dot com . Please don't tell me I have to make my own!

Kennedy is el uno

Well one month anyway, last Friday. I can't believe it's been over a month with this sweet little butter ball. Within this past month she's grown at least a pound in the mid-section alone. I stopped nursing last week completely and she's become such a happy baby. I can't believe how much happier she is. I'm so much happier too so it's a good thing.

She wakes up only once at night- thank you baby!!! I'm sure it's due to having a full tummy all the time but it sure is nice. One of my favorite things is that she started smiling on demand. There's nothing cuter than a bitty baby who's smiling already. Oh, I need at least a dozen more of these... babies. Don't tell Cody, I think he might protest so I'll have to work on him over the next few years. I'm sure he'll go along with it eventually or I'll have to have 10-tuplets. Yes 10-tuplets is a word in my world, stinking spell checker. Anyway I just love her to bits and pieces and she's the cutest!

A must make

I saw this on my blog reader today and I just have to make one or a dozen. It's a fantastic Junk Journal by Janet Hopkins made from hollowing out a book and turning the cover into a binder. Genius! She posted the instructions here or if you'd rather buy one you can here.

I just got called to be the activity director for the 8-11 yr. old girls in our church and I think it would be a blast to make a modified version with them. We are going to have so much fun!!!

This weekend I've been trying to fight off the urge to do a revenge tutorial so maybe this would keep me busy. Cody also bought me a serger that I have to figure out so maybe I should do that too. It was a whopping $7 so as you can imagine I have some work to do. I saw a dead moth next to the blade, yum. I'd like to kiss the person who invented canned air so I don't have to touch it.

It would be great if the canned air guy looked like this. Have a great weekend, but I have a feeling with my last image you're off to a good start ;o).

Alive with 5

Isn't there a kid song with something about being alive and 5? Maybe I'm thinking of a rock song or something, something catchy about still being alive at 5 a.m.? Doing time and still being alive after serving 5? That's going to bug me all day until I figure it out. I just wanted to jump in and let you know that I'm still alive. Barely, but I'm hanging in here. Five kids- HOLY SMOKES! It's not bad or anything but I'm certainly busy. A good kind of busy- just look at these sweet innocent faces. All five of them.

Can I just mention how hard it is to get 5 kids to look at you and look cute at the same time. It must take a miracle or a talent I don't have because I couldn't do it!

My Aunt Tina came to visit us on Saturday so while the kids still looked decent and in one piece I managed to snap a few pictures. It was so nice to visit with Tina. I don't get much adult interaction these days so it was nice to spend an entire afternoon speaking in an adult tone with someone who doesn't need their diaper changed, yet anyway- ha ha. The little people are pretty much taking my full attention right now, which is great, but a little me time (and a ding dong) would be fantastic! I haven't been on the internet in a week, not even to check my mail. Internet withdrawl is setting in!! I can't believe Kennedy will be a month old on Friday. Hopefully I can get on my blog again before she turns 2 months, sheesh.

This and That

I can't believe a week has gone by already. It just flew by and I feel like I've been in a hypnotic trance and missed everything. Nothing much has happened thank goodness but where does the time go? The last time I was on the Internet was 4 days ago- I've missed over 350 of my favorite blog posts ( I like a lot of blogs ) and had over 75 e-mails. I'm never going to get caught up! I'm trying ever so hard to visit and comment on all my new visitors blogs but it might take me a while to get to them all. I really do visit everyone that visits here... I just can't comment a lot of the time but gosh darn it I try! Okay, this is not what I was going to say today so where was I...

I don't have very much time lately for the things I love, you know- sewing, scrapbooking, and showering but I did manage to eek in a little sewing time the other day. I bought myself a really cute shirt to wear post baby but it turned out that I lost more weight than normal so it didn't fit. Since I only paid $3 for it and it would have cost me $12 to return it in gas I decided to cut it up and make Ashlyn a skirt. I added a lining and some ric rac and viola`... I love it. I'm going to turn the sleeves into a pair of pants for the baby next. Not too shabby for $3.

The baby was still sleeping after I sewed the skirt so I tried to be el speedy and whip up an art smock for Ashlyn for school. I took another clearance shirt and re purposed it. I love doing that. Curvy and I have a few kinks to iron out when it comes to applique but it's going to get thrashed with paint at school so no big deal. The little paint blobs look more like beans which bothers me.

While digging around for my pictures I found this... isn't she lovely, and on that note have a fantastic Friday.
