When we start out playing badminton, coaches and other mentors will tell us to try not to use our backhands, they might even not practice our backhands at all. This is because your coaches and mentors want you to not get lazy and use your backhand when you can use your forehand since the forehand will always be stronger than the backhand.

Taufik Hidayat, Indonesian badminton player (b. 1981) was the Olympic singles gold medal in 2004, as well as being a world and 3 times Asian Championship winner. He was a famous rival to Lin Dan and helped drive the popularity of the sport in Indonesia. Whilst known for his strong backhand smash, his forehand smash remains the fastsest ever recorded.
