I know better than that….I was in a hurry to wash all the dahlia clumps because wet dirt comes off easier than dry dirt, BUT I wasn’t ready to divide and store them properly (in pine shavings or vermiculite ). Soo I let them just sit in crates on the cement floor. And you know what that does to tubers? It shrivels and dries them out 😱

💦Thankfully it’s been pretty wet out and the humidity is high so I was able to save them. I propped them off the floor and started dividing the most affected tubers right away.

Don’t make my mistake!

💁‍♀️Tip: store the clumps unwashed or put them in a storing medium right away to avoid shrinking and drying out! You can use pine shavings, vermiculite or peat moss.
