This page provides access to Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) data for Mycobacterium abscessus isolates.
In 1953, Moore and Frerichs described a new mycobacterial species isolated from a knee abscess and named it "Mycobacterium abscessus". In 2004 and 2006 this species, M. abscessus (sensu lato), was divided into three groups: M. abscessus (sensu stricto), Mycobacterium massiliense and Mycobacterium bolletii. The individualization of three species has been questioned recently and the MLST database accepts isolates of M. abscessus sensu lato (i.e. M. abscessus, M. massiliense and M. bolletii).
Please see references for more details. For a correspondence of Pasteur's scheme sequence types (ST) with STs of other schemes, please refer to Clermont et al. 2015.
The BIGSdb website is implementing new settings regarding data access. Data curated in 2025 (and later) will not be accessible for anonymous (non-logged-in users). If you wish to have access to data curated in 2025 and beyond, please register on the platform and login when using it. Note that access via the application programming interface (API) will also require authentication to access recent data (API authentication help link).
To ensure a smooth transition, anonymous data access will be periodically closed and opened from 1st October 2024 until the end of the year. For detailed planning, please follow this link.
On 1st January 2025, registration will be permanently mandatory to access data curated after the 31st of December 2024.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
We appreciate if you can recognize our efforts in the acknowledgments section of your publications:
