YES!!

so the hi-tec-c pen is incredible! my co-worker brought a bag of them back from taiwan and gave me one. i am now totally addicted. actually it is so fun to write with that i only let myself use it on ‘special occasions’ so that it lasts longer. now i can buy it it more colors and use it all the time! i am so glad that it was on a little sussy for me to find. too bad my co-worker got them for like 30/$1 in taiwan and now i’m stuck paying 90 times that. still worth it though!
pumpkin
we have a pumpkin carving contest here at work tomorrow and each team was given a pumpkin to enter. i’m predicting we are going to win with this idea i saw on a friend’s blog last week. how could we not? as for the group costume contest, i’m pretty sure we have no chance since we aren’t even dressing up as of now. my idea, since we are babygap and maternity, was to all buy these geeky adult onesies and be babies with our maternity girl as a pregnant mama, but no one went for it. weenies.

ward primary party

saturday night we had our annual ward primary halloween party. i was at the church all morning turning the stage into a “spook alley”. i thought it turned out okay, but it was a challenge to create something that the 2-year-olds weren’t too scared of while also not making something the older kids thought was lame. i made us washer and dryer costumes, they were pretty funny. we wore them for all of two seconds and then when christian set them down the kids immediately decided they wanted to punch/kick them so i had to hide them in the chapel. oh and also, we didn’t figure out until the last minute that they wouldn’t fit in our car, that was fun. (by the way, iPhones are amazing, nettie took this picture and e-mailed it to us right there.)
“a perfect dinner”
christian is a lucky boy tonight and gets to go to what is said to be “a perfect dinner“. he has been obsessed with a book, the ‘omnivores dilemma: a natural history of four meals‘ by michael pollan for a few months now. we have two copies but both are currently loaned out – mine before i even got to finish it. anyway, the meal is based on the idea in his book of eating locally and foraging for your food. so the entire meal was foraged locally. christian’s friends erik and nina even got to help catch the bullfrogs that they are eating! i hope christian buys another copy of the book so that he can have mr. pollan sign it for him!

garbage family tree
well you can all tell i’m very busy at work this morning, because i just went through and found garbage pail kids for every single member of my family – including in-laws! so so funny.

aah

i am so happy because i just purchased a new digital camera. we have had quite the year for cameras – first christian broke his fancy waterproof digital camera that i got him for kayaking, then my dumb canon decided to only work about 10% of the time. so for a few months i’ve felt very photo deprived. finally, thanks to kelly tipping me off, i ordered a new one. nothing too fancy, but it does have “optical image stabilizer technology” which is supposed to be really nice. and i could not believe how good all of the prices were on buydig.com (thanks again kelly). i really can’t wait to start taking pictures. first up is a picture of the sunrise at the marina green – that was my backdrop for my half marathon training runs and every morning i wished i had a camera to capture it. those are the times i feel so lucky to live here!
life is a marathon, not a sprint

so the half marathon last weekend went great! it was really neat to have kelly, my mom, jessica, nicole, and claudia all here together for the weekend. kelly and i ran the whole way together and i am pretty sure i couldn’t have done it without her. our official time was 2:24:31 – not too fast, but i am proud to say that i ran all of the hills. the day after jessica and i were walking around like 65-year-old women, it was pretty hilarious.
things making me happy this week

fresh ravioli from lucca delicatessen: i love that they wrap it in paper and tie it with a red and white string, i makes me feel cute carrying it home. this week they had little samples of different cheeses too, so i got one for christian to try – it is roomano (and yes, it’s roomano, i didn’t just misspell romano).

heath ceramics factory store: kelly, my mom, and i went on saturday to the heath ceramics factory store in sausalito. i got some great square serving platters for $1-$10 (usually $40) and a cute little blue bowl for my desk for $10. i am especially excited about the platters because i have really been lacking service ware.
a boy & a bike
i wanted to post some pictures of christian and his new bike. i am a little behind, but christian collected all of the parts and it turned out really beautiful, so here is a small photo time line of the process.
