two blondes, a brunette, & a redhead
i just wanted to post an older picture of the nyc girls from way back when. this was taken in october of 2004 right before melanie moved to d.c. – little did we know that i would end up out there two months later, taryn right after that, and kayla now! so much has happened since then – none of us had even met our now-husbands when this picture was taken! and the best part is, i saw all of them in new york four weeks ago, i spent a fun weekend on taryn’s parents’ house boat two weeks ago in gridley, melanie came for an amazing few days last week, and i get to see my lovely kayla in hawaii tomorrow!
i wish they lived closer, but i am quite spoiled with how often i’ve seen these girls lately. i love you guys!!

“for kids, by kids”
this is an article that was circulating around my office a few months ago, and i couldn’t help but giggle as i remembered it today and watched it again. so here’s a clip poking fun at my wonderful employer from the onion.
just for an extra chuckle, here’s one about the discovery of the midwest.
i (heart) nyc
i was lucky enough a few weeks ago to spend a fun weekend in new york with taryn, melanie, and kayla. it was a pretty ideal trip. i flew into d.c., went to 2amy’s and cake love (in one night!) for my favorite d.c. food. then friday i met taryn and brendon for lunch at cosi’s before we all (barely) caught the chinatown bus to new york city. despite a rainy start, it was a great trip. we hopped in a cab at midnight to s’mac, a fancy mac & cheese place i’d been wanting to try that christian saw when he was in new york. it was really good and i don’t mean to brag, but i think i picked the best flavor, cheeseburger. :o) mm. saturday was spent shopping in soho, followed by dinner in little italy and cheap back/foot massages. just what my shopped out little body needed! sunday we went to grey’s papaya (for melanie) and cupcakes and burgers (for kayla).
to sum it up i just have to say that i love all three of these girls and i really hope that this becomes at least a yearly tradition. it was an amazing weekend!

susan the jerk
i just have to say how grateful i am for my old intern friends, kent & melanie, for posting a link to this story on their blog. and now i am stealing it. because i read it and thought that it was possibly the most hilarious story i’ve ever read! i cannot believe that they published this in the ensign. the humor reminds me of something that kayla would come up with. and, surprisingly, it is orson scott card’s first published work.
okay, so here’s the link to susan the jerk. let me know if you think it is as hilarious as i did.
