la-la-laguna
we went on a fun trip to laguna beach last weekend with the mildenhalls. it was also the first time we’ve seen kelly and jim since they left san francisco. christian sliced open his toe the first day at the beach. nine stitches later and it’s back on but it looks like a frankenstein toe. happy birthday sham-shamoli!
july 9th was my friend/co-worker shamoli’s birthday so saturday night we were invited to her birthday dinner at medjools. it was so much fun and the food was great! it didn’t hurt that her fiance knew the owner and got us hooked up! christian had fun trying to talk to all the gap people.

the table.

photo update!

christian’s brother jon came to visit from san diego. christian had a fun time taking him rafting, and we had fun just hanging out for the weekend.

sarah came out for a vidal sassoon class so i got to have her all to myself for NINE whole days! i was in heaven! we had tons of fun shopping, eating out, going to the farmer’s market, baking pies, and of course she joined us for our weekly sunday afternoon trip to stinson beach. oh and she gave both christian and i awesome haircuts before she left! what a great week!

we spent a fun fourth of july hiking to bass lake with kristen and adam. the boys had fun on the rope swing, and kristen seriously impressed me with her swimming skills! while i was doggie paddling and trying desperately not to drown, she was zipping around – and she’s four and a half months pregnant!

of course it wouldn’t be fourth of july without fireworks. we went down the street to the marina green and saw watched on the grass. christian has on his geeky homemade hat in this picture, and i looked like a marshmallow trying to keep warm, but it was so much fun!
friday night we had a great dinner at minako organic japanese in the mission with louise and andrew. it was quite the tour-de-japan adventure! i will admit i stole this picture from yelp because i didn’t actually take one, but this is very close to the japanese schmorgasboard i (unintentionally) ordered. it was hilarious. christian and andrew wouldn’t even eat some of the tofu they brought me! i did invent a new word in describing the pickled eggplant as “eatable”.
oh and i just had to include this – the inevitable happened after dinner, which was we got our stereo ripped out. sad. people are so awful sometimes! now i have to listen to christian making up his own songs in the car!!
lastly, i just had to brag a little about the progress that we made today in the kitchen. the cart i put together and painted a few weeks ago, but the much-needed shelves just made it up today. we were pretty proud of ourselves! christian loves having everything he needs right there!
kitchen curtains

well i made the first step today towards my ambitious dream of snazzing up our kitchen. i bought this cute fabric for some new kitchen curtains. my friend andy challenged me to redecorate the kitchen so it is ready to show off to him when he returns from his summer travels, so we’ll see how i do. so far all i’ve done is painted our ikea kitchen cart green to not be so ugly! but i’m slowly getting there. i have shelves up against the wall waiting to be hung. now that i have the light green/red color theme started i’m off to look for new knobs!
