First dance

with a stranger....

Ok, he ain't really that much of a stranger. I know his name. Fren's fren. was in the class after mine. A bunch of us (guys and gals) think that he dance with 'sey'. Very nice to watch. But anyway, this is the first time I've gone to Union Square and danced with a non-friend.

It's highly stressful. He's good and I'm very normal, or lousy... Luckily he didn't use fanciful moves. Of course he can turn or do some things and make it look nice.. Anway, stress is over. Time to buck up!

Expensive taste

Found out that I seem to be having expensive taste lately...

First, it's that brown dress at Isetan that I still think is nice but costs $350 after discount. The price is so disgusting... Dresses at Daniel Yan are only about $100. But it's NICE!!!!!

Second, I've been slowing down slightly whenever I pass by a jewellery shop. Looking at diamonds and wat not.. Looking at rings, earrings, pendants. Looking more at diamond rings though cause I once asked myself when I started work, 'When would I be able to earn enough to buy a diamond ring for myself?' Ok, I saw a few nice ones... Shld be at least 700+ after discount. See how lah... i doubt I"ll get one any time soon though. Not exactly feeling rich.

Saw quite a number of couples sitting inside and looking at diamonds too. Reminded me of this guy fren who asked me 'Why must a guy propose with a diamond ring? Why not a diamond pendant or diamond bracelet or diamond earrings??' I was dumbstrucked for that moment. Didn't know how to answer. But now that I recall, it was cause people believed that there was a vein linking the left ring finger to the heart. So putting a ring on the left ring finger signified binding the heart (or something like that). Just found this on the web that in the British-American modern convention, the ring represents a formal agreement to chastity and a future marriage.

Anyway, so much for diamond rings... Shall call for a poll!! Haven't had many many comments for a long time.. So state your preference, esp the GIRLS!

Which of the following rings do u like if your bf/fiance were to buy u one? Solitaire, trilogy or some patterned one? Or a totally non-conventional one? I think the more common ones are solitaire and trilogy signifying 'You're the only one' or 'I love you'.

Read below for my opinions, but dun let it affect u first. Take a look at the pictures first and then comment at this post! I have problems uploading all the photos in the same post.

Posted by Picasa Solitaire: Out of the 3 rings, this should have the biggest diamond carat on its own. One diamond but bigger.

Posted by Picasa Trilogy: 3 slightlyyyy smaller diamonds. I mean each is smaller than the solitaire.

Realized that this picture is not very good. Seems like it's 12 tiny diamonds, but what i mean is 3 diamonds side by side, ok?

Posted by PicasaRing with pattern: Usually have very small diamonds cause of the designs. Bigger diamonds would be in solitaire or trilogy setting. Definitely the cheaper of the lot since the diamonds are smaller in size. But designs can be pretty and can have more diamonds than this too.

Ok, for my opinions.. Wedding, I guess a solitaire is nice enough. Simple but elegant. But for everyday use, I like pattern ones. Not really this particular picture, but something more curvy and different. Of course, I guess proposal can be a little unconventional, but ah well..

So what about you? Don't be shy.. just leave ur comments

Oh yes, and does SIZE matter? Or are you willing to exchange that for several small ones assuming u've picked trilogy or patterned rings?

16 June

0800+ am:
Woke up automatically even though I wanted to wake up at 9+ instead

12.30pm:
Went for full body scrub and massage with my mom. Really shiok to have someone massage for u and attempt to loosen up the knots in the muscles...

3pm:
Went to Plaza Singapura to shop

4.30pm:
Went to Wisma. Went to try some dresses in Isetan among the higher end brands. Tried this empire dress that costs $700+ but it didn't look that good on me. Then tried a brown halter neck dress that's pretty low cut in front. VERY NICE!!!!!!!! I like it!! SO PRETTY!!! but the tag says $400+. Even after 30% discount, it's $300+. Sighz... Really good dresses. Only one dress per size, unlike brands like daniel yen... I need money to fall from the sky.. Lots of money...

6.30pm:
Went to 'Yong Chun Yuan' restaurant at Chinatown with my family. Had Peking Duck at 77 cents after ordering other dishes above total of $77. Ate till we were very very full... Couldn't finish the food, especially the duck meat even though it was very tender. Quite unlike normal ducks we eat...

9pm:
Went to Clarke Quay to walk around for the first time in many years. I didn't realize that the shops have completely changed and there were so many restaurants, pubs, etc. Very different from the Clarke Quay I used to know. After walking for almost 30 mins, finally found seats in front of a tv showing world cup. I watched my first World Cup match, Argentina vs Serbia & Montenegro! Totally thrashing by Argentina, 6-0. Though I preferred to have goals from both teams, it wasn't too bad a match cause at least I got to watch goals scored instead of a boring 0-0 match.

Overall, my day wasn't too bad!!!! Quite a nice relaxing day...

Thank you all for your birthday wishes through sms, phone calls, msn, etc...

Dragonfruit

Posted by PicasaAs requested, here's a photo of a dragonfruit plant. It's a bit like a creeper, where it needs support and some kind of pillar to grow with. There are 2 flowers there. Each flower only blooms for 1 day.

Heard that it's quite easy to grow a plant. You just have to take one of the cactus-like "leaf" and stick it into the ground next to some pillar or pole.. Would have taken one home but I don't have any garden leh...

Anyway, this is a red dragonfruit plant. The flesh is red, or actually more purplish, rather than the normal white ones we see...

Kukup

Went to Kukup with some colleagues today. Kind of a family day outing...

Boarded the tour bus at 645am, went for breakfast, chinese temple. Then went on a kelong trip. This is the first time I stepped foot on a kelong!

Posted by Picasa

Had a seafood lunch at Kukup. Food's so-so though. Then went on to a private-owned dragonfruit farm. Sadly, the ripe fruits have been cut off and there were only flowers and unripe dragonfruits there.. But now I know how dragonfruit plants look like. A bit like cactus. Saw durian trees too, but it's not the season yet... sad.. the durians are still hanging up there...

Shopping at Tebrau City Shopping Centre. Quite a big shopping centre. 1st floor is full of brands, similar to Singapore though... Can spend quite a bit of time there... Next time, I should go there for an entire day...

Dinner at a restaurant. Food's quite good! But I was quite full. Didn't even touch my rice....

Anyway, something interesting. On the bus trip, we were watching an old hongkong movie 'Mr Vampire'. Quite a humorous show about vampires and priests... U know.. The typical hongkong vampire shows... Basically, the whole busload of us were extremely engrossed in the show. The moment we came back tot he bus, we asked the show to be played. Suddenly made me recall how I loved to watch chinese vampire shows when I was young.... =)

Naan

Naan crazy.. I went for Indian buffet yesterday at Riverwalk. Bday treat from my boss... For people who like indian food, you really can consider the place! Weekday lunch buffet for $12++ only.

There was some salad, chickpeas, some coleslaw like thing but it's different. The pickles is really REALLY sour! Trust me on that.. There are 4 different vegetarian curries, 1 mutton curry, fish masala and tandoori chicken.

I like 1 of the vegetarian curry and the mutton curry. Always tried tandoori chicken that's very dry but this was quite nice and juicy.. Naan is free flow and freshly made. They'll give u a few pieces at a time. I tried 2 different kinds of naan.

Anyone interested? we can go next time...

Exciting?

Hmm.. Someone complained that I have not been blogging much.. If I do, my posts are really short. Ok, I admit so. Doing about the same things every week, so nothing really exciting to me, which means nothing exciting to blog..

Let me think of something exciting...

Salsa.. I just learnt how to do a double turn, as in turn twice continuously. Well, I still pretty much suck at it. Only learnt for less than 2 hours. Needs much more practise. Can still feel quite wobbly, unstable and hear me go 'woahhh' when I spin and off balance.. Going to start intermediate finally! Still learning for the fun of it...

Food trial. Went for this trail last sat. Organized by sdu pple from my side. Got into teams of 8. 1) My team went to a steamboat shop, wait for soup to boil, put in a dish of food and eat. Simple as that. Anyway, my team agreed that we were not there to win, but to enjoy the food and the game. So we took our time throughout the game
2) 2nd stop where we had to remember a menu of dishes, word for word. We pair up, one gets blindfolded and fed by the other. Blindfolded one has to say the correct name of the dish. Our team got all correct!! Actually, if there's one wrong answer, the forfeit is to eat their chilli sauce. But our team still ate it anyway. We were just curious cause other teams said it was really hot, and went to get water straight away. But we thought it was quite ok... Anyway, we got to eat 2 dishes after that.. the food's good...
3) Went to a dessert shop. We had a HUGE bowl of icy dessert. Icy with some jelly things, peanut, coconut milk, etc.. Quite nice actually! We were just happily eating. I even joked with the waitress and asked if there were chairs for us cause we were just standing around a table outside the shop.
4) Went to a 'la mian' shop. Had to learn how to pull noodles literally, out of dough. I suck. I admit.. Need lots of practice. But the noodles was good...
5) Last stop at Maxwell Market. To fry a 'ham cheen peng'. Each member should have 1. So, we had 8. But we decided to get 7 more for $1. And then most of us bought a cup of soya milk and strolled back to where we were supposed to gather. Can tell that we are really enjoying ourselves. Ham cheen peng and soya milk.. Perfect! While others were rushing, we were having fun. Thank goodness.. I wouldn't wanna rush around for the sake of winning

Made some new friends here and there.. But for those very interested in a certain topic.. NO, nothing happening.. Nothing very exciting.. Dun bother to ask... =)

Long enough post? exciting enough? that's all I'll type for now lah..
