2012 Peony 'Do Tell' Best Performer - Week 4

As for my favorite overall performer for the bush as a whole for week 4, there is no contest. It is definitely Peony 'Do Tell'. This peony has a multitude of pink blooms with an interesting pink and white center of tiny wavy petals. It almost looks like a hairdo that Ke$ha would wear! The blooms open on different days. This peony is Do Tell and opens up to gorgeous little swirls! It’s an early-mid bloomer and mature bushes can easily give you 20 harvestable stems! And if you want peonies for even longer, you can also actually extend your peony bloom time by cold storing them: just pick them in marshmallow stage (when the bud is still closed but feels a bit squishy). To store, it’s advised you lightly wrap the blooms in a plastic bag to help prevent frost damage from your fridge (if storing in a floral cooler, the plastic is not necessary). Tell me they have saved their peony blooms in their fridge until thanksgiving! I have never been able to wait that long, but I have successfully held them in the fridge for several months.
