Rare photos taken by Ansel Adams from the collection of David H Arrington, a passionate collector of Adams’ photographs from the beginning, will be offered for sale from 17 February at midday in Sotheby’s New York

A large-format black-and-white photograph—like an Ansel Adams oversized print, for example—is a great way to make a statement without overwhelming a space. Such prints have an impressive presence in a room—they immediately command attention. Tastefully matted and framed, a large-dimension black-and-white photograph can even anchor an entire wall.

Over the weekend, I visited an Ansel Adams exhibition in London. Having found his work even more breathtaking in print, I purchased a documentary about the man himself. It was an effort to learn more about the artist I admired.

The Booth Museum, in association with the Smithsonian Institution, is a 120,000 square foot museum located in Cartersville, Georgia, where guests are invited to See America’s Story through contemporary Western artwork, a Presidential Gallery, a Civil War art gallery and an interactive children’s gallery.
