First study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ and measurement of $Λp\rightarrowΛp$ cross section

Using $(10.087\pm0.044)\times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the processes $Λp\rightarrowΛp$ and $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ are studied, where the $Λ/\barΛ$ baryons are produced in the process $J/ψ\rightarrowΛ\barΛ$ and the protons are the hydrogen nuclei in the cooling oil of the beam pipe. Clear signals are observed for the two reactions. The cross sections in $-0.9\leq\rm{cos}θ_{Λ/\barΛ}\leq0.9$ are measured to be $σ(Λp\rightarrowΛp)=(12.2\pm1.6_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.1_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(\barΛ p\rightarrow\barΛ p)=(17.5\pm2.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.6_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Λ/\barΛ$ momentum of $1.074$ GeV/$c$ within a range of $\pm0.017$ GeV/$c$, where the $θ_{Λ/\barΛ}$ are the scattering angles of the $Λ/\barΛ$ in the $Λp/\barΛp$ rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for $Λp\rightarrowΛp$, and a strong forward peak for $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction.

The $Σ^{+}$ hyperons are produced by the collisions of $Λ$ hyperons from $J/ψ$ decays with nuclei in the material of the BESIII detector. The total cross section of $Λ+ ^{9}{\rm Be} \rightarrow Σ^+ + X$ is measured to be $σ= (37.3 \pm 4.7 \pm 3.5)~{\rm mb}$ at $Λ$ beam momenta within $[1.057, 1.091]~{\rm GeV}/c$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This analysis is the first study of $Λ$-nucleon interactions at an $e^+ e^-$ collider, providing information and constraints relevant for the strong-interaction potential, the origin of color confinement, the unified model for baryon-baryon interactions, and the internal structure of neutron stars.

Using $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the process $Ξ^{0}n\rightarrowΞ^{-}p$ is studied, where the $Ξ^0$ baryon is produced in the process $J/ψ\rightarrowΞ^0\barΞ^0$ and the neutron is a component of the $^9\rm{Be}$, $^{12}\rm{C}$ and $^{197}\rm{Au}$ nuclei in the beam pipe. A clear signal is observed with a statistical significance of $7.1σ$. The cross section of the reaction $Ξ^0+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΞ^-+p+{^8\rm{Be}}$ is determined to be $σ(Ξ^0+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΞ^-+p+{^8\rm{Be}})=(22.1\pm5.3_{\rm{stat}}\pm4.5_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Ξ^0$ momentum of $0.818$ GeV/$c$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No significant $H$-dibaryon signal is observed in the $Ξ^-p$ final state. This is the first study of hyperon-nucleon interactions in electron-positron collisions and opens up a new direction for such research.

The performance of the Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) at GANIL is discussed, on the basis of the analysis of source and in-beam data taken with up to 30 segmented crystals. Data processing is described in detail. The performance of individual detectors are shown. The efficiency of the individual detectors as well as the efficiency after $γ$-ray tracking are discussed. Recent developments of $γ$-ray tracking are also presented. The experimentally achieved peak-to-total is compared with simulations showing the impact of back-scattered $γ$ rays on the peak-to-total in a $γ$-ray tracking array. An estimate of the achieved position resolution using the Doppler broadening of in-beam data is also given.
Angular correlations from source measurements are shown together with different methods to take into account the effects of $γ$-ray tracking on the normalization of the angular correlations.

We report a study of the processes of $e^+e^-\to K^+ (D_s^- D^{*0} + D^{*-}_s D^0)$ based on $e^+e^-$ annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb$^{-1}$. An excess over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the $D_s^- D^{*0}$ and $D^{*-}_s D^0$ mass thresholds in the $K^{+}$ recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at $\sqrt{s}=4.681$ GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as $(3982.5^{+1.8}_{-2.6}\pm2.1)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(12.8^{+5.3}_{-4.4}\pm3.0)$ MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 $σ$ over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate of the charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into $D_s^- D^{*0}$ and $D^{*-}_s D^0$. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.

The fusion and transfer induced fission reaction $^{9}$Be($^{238}$U,~f) with 6.2 MeV/u beam energy, using a unique setup consisting of AGATA, VAMOS++ and EXOGAM detectors, was used to populate through the fission process and study the neutron-rich $^{119,121}$In isotopes. This setup enabled the prompt-delayed $γ$-ray spectroscopy of isotopes in the time range of $100~\rm{ns} - 200~μ\rm{s}$. In the odd-$A$ $^{119,121}$In isotopes, indications of a short half-life $19/2^{-}$ isomeric state, in addition to the previously known $25/2^{+}$ isomeric state, were observed from the present data. Further, new prompt transitions above the $25/2^{+}$ isomer in $^{121}$In were identified along with reevaluation of its half-life. The experimental data were compared with the theoretical results obtained in the framework of large-scale shell-model calculations in a restricted model space. The $\langle πg_{9/2} νh_{11/2};I \arrowvert \hat{\mathcal{H}}\arrowvert πg_{9/2} νh_{11/2};I\rangle$ two-body matrix elements of residual interaction were modified to explain the excitation energies and the $B(E2)$ transition probabilities in the neutron-rich In isotopes. The (i) decreasing trend of $E(29/2^{+}) - E(25/2^{+})$ in odd-In (with dominant configuration $πg_{9/2}^{-1}νh_{11/2}^{-2}$ and maximum aligned spin of $29/2^{+}$) and (ii) increasing trend of $E(27/2^{+}) - E(23/2^{+})$ in odd-Sb (with dominant configuration $πg_{7/2}^{+1}νh_{11/2}^{-2}$ and maximum aligned spin of $27/2^{+}$) with increasing neutron number could be understood as a consequence of hole-hole and particle-hole interactions, respectively.

The neutron-rich $^{122-131}$Sb isotopes were produced as fission fragments in the reaction $^{9}$Be($^{238}$U,~f) with 6.2 MeV/u beam energy. An unique setup, consisting of AGATA, VAMOS++ and EXOGAM detectors, was used which enabled the prompt-delayed gamma-ray ($γ$) spectroscopy of fission fragments in the time range of 100 ns - 200 $μ$s. New isomers, prompt and delayed transitions were established in the even-A $^{122-130}$Sb isotopes. In the odd-A $^{123-131}$Sb isotopes, new prompt and delayed $γ$-ray transitions were identified, in addition to the confirmation of the previously known isomers. The half-lives of the isomeric states and the $B(E2)$ transition probabilities of the observed transitions depopulating these isomers were extracted. The experimental data was compared with the theoretical results obtained in the framework of Large-Scale Shell-Model (LSSM) calculations in a restricted model space. Modifications of several components of the shell model interaction were introduced to obtain a consistent agreement with the excitation energies and the $B(E2)$ transition probabilities in neutron-rich Sn and Sb isotopes. The isomeric configurations in Sn and Sb were found to be relatively pure. Further, the calculations revealed that the presence of a single valence proton, mainly in the $g_{7/2}$ orbital in Sb isotopes, leads to significant mixing (due to the $νπ$ interaction) of: (i) the neutron seniorities ($\upsilon_ν$) and (ii) the neutron angular momentum ($I_ν$). The above features have a weak impact on the excitation energies, but have an important impact on the $B(E2)$ transition probabilities. In addition, a constancy of the relative excitation energies irrespective of neutron seniority and neutron number in Sn and Sb was observed.

Using a sample of $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of spin polarization of $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hyperons from the coherent production in the $J/ψ\toΛ\barΛ$ decay. Using a sample of $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of spin polarization of $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hyperons from the coherent production in the $J/ψ\toΛ\barΛ$ decay. We measure the phase between the hadronic form factors to be $ΔΦ=(42.4\pm0.6\pm0.5)^\circ$. The decay parameters for $Λ\to pπ^-$ ($α_-$), $\barΛ\to\bar pπ^+$ ($α_+$) and $\barΛ\to\bar nπ^0$ ($\barα_0$) are measured to be $α_-=0.750\pm0.009\pm0.004$, $α_+=-0.758\pm0.010\pm0.007$ and $\barα_0=-0.692\pm0.016\pm0.006$, respectively. The obtained value of $α_-$ is higher by $(17\pm 3)\%$ than the current world average. In addition, the $CP$ asymmetry of $-0.006\pm0.012\pm0.007$ is extracted with substantially improved precision. The ratio $\barα_0/α_{+} = 0.913\pm 0.028 \pm 0.012$ is also measured.

The previously reported levels assigned to 151,152,153Pr have recently been called into question regarding their mass assignment. The above questioned level assignments are clarified by measuring g-transitions tagged with A and Z in an in-beam experiment in addition to the measurements from 252Cf spontaneous fission (SF) and establish new spectroscopic information from $N=84$ to $N=94$ in the Pr isotopic chain. The isotopic chain 143-153Pr has been studied from the spontaneous fission of 252Cf by using Gammasphere and also from the measurement of the prompt g-rays in coincidence with isotopically-identified fission fragments using VAMOS++ and EXOGAM at GANIL. The latter were produced using 238U beams on a 9Be target at energies around the Coulomb barrier. The g-g-g-g data from 252Cf (SF) and those from the GANIL in-beam A- and Z-gated spectra were combined to unambiguously assign the various transitions and levels in 151,152,153Pr and other isotopes. New transitions and bands in 145,147,148,149,150Pr were identified by using g-g-g and g-g-g-g coincidences and A and Z gated g-g spectra. The transitions and levels previously assigned to 151,153Pr have been confirmed by the (A,Z) gated spectra. The transitions previously assigned to 152Pr are now assigned to 151Pr on the basis of the (A,Z) gated spectra. Two new bands with 20 new transitions in 152Pr and one new band with 7 new transitions in 153Pr are identified from the g-g-g-g coincidence spectra and the (A,Z) gated spectrum. In addition, new g-rays are also reported in 143-146Pr. New levels of 145,147-153Pr have been established, reliable mass assignments of the levels in 151,152,153Pr have been reported and new transitions have been identified in 143-146Pr showing the new avenues that are opened by combining the two experimental approaches.
