Abstract:
The calculation of massive three-loop QCD form factors using in particular the large moments method has been successfully applied to quarkonic contributions in [1]. We give a brief review of the different steps of the calculation and report on improvements of our methods that enabled us to push forward the calculations of the gluonic contributions to the form factors.

They describe the factorization behaviour of the difference- or differential equations for a subset of master integrals of a given problem.) to the unpolarized and polarized massive operator matrix elements to three-loop order, $A_{Qg}^{(3)}$ and $ΔA_{Qg}^{(3)}$, are calculated in the single-mass case. For the $_2F_1$-related master integrals of the problem, we use a semi-analytic method based on series expansions and utilize the first-order differential equations for the master integrals which does not need a special basis of the master integrals. Due to the singularity structure of this basis a part of the integrals has to be computed to $O(\varepsilon^5)$ in the dimensional parameter. The solutions have to be matched at a series of thresholds and pseudo-thresholds in the region of the Bjorken variable $x \in ]0,\infty[$ using highly precise series expansions to obtain the imaginary part of the physical amplitude for $x \in ]0,1]$ at a high relative accuracy. We compare the present results both with previous analytic results, the results for fixed Mellin moments, and a prediction in the small-$x$ region. We also derive expansions in the region of small and large values of $x$. With this paper, all three-loop single-mass unpolarized and polarized operator matrix elements are calculated.

The unpolarized and polarized massive operator matrix elements $A_{Qg}^{(3)}$ and $ΔA_{Qg}^{(3)}$ contain first-order factorizable and non-first-order factorizable contributions in the determining difference or differential equations of their master integrals. We compute their first-order factorizable contributions in the single heavy mass case for all contributing Feynman diagrams. Moreover, we present the complete color-$ζ$ factors for the cases in which also non-first-order factorizable contributions emerge in the master integrals, but cancel in the final result as found by using the method of arbitrary high Mellin moments. Individual contributions depend also on generalized harmonic sums and on nested finite binomial and inverse binomial sums in Mellin $N$-space, and correspondingly, on Kummer-Poincaré and square-root valued alphabets in Bjorken-$x$ space. We present a complete discussion of the possibilities of solving the present problem in $N$-space analytically and we also discuss the limitations in the present case to analytically continue the given $N$-space expressions to $N \in \mathbb{C}$ by strict methods. The representation through generating functions allows a well synchronized representation of the first-order factorizable results over a 17-letter alphabet. We finally obtain representations in terms of iterated integrals over the corresponding alphabet in $x$-space, also containing up to weight {\sf w = 5} special constants, which can be rationalized to Kummer-Poincaré iterated integrals at special arguments. The analytic $x$-space representation requires separate analyses for the intervals $x \in [0,1/4], [1/4,1/2], [1/2,1]$ and $x > 1$. We also derive the small and large $x$ limits of the first-order factorizable contributions.

In this paper, we investigate the discovery prospect of simplified fermionic dark sectors models through Higgs precision measurements at $e^+e^-$ colliders and direct searches at hadron colliders. These models extend the Standard Model with two Majorana or Dirac fermions that are singlets, doublets or triplets under the weak SU(2) group. For all models, we consider two scenarios where the lightest new fermion is either stable, or where it decays into other visible final states. For the Higgs precision observables we primarily focus on $σ(e^+e^-\to ZH)$, which can deviate from the Standard Model through one-loop corrections involving the new fermions. Deviations of 0.5\% or more, which could be observable at future $e^+e^-$ colliders, are found for TeV-scale dark sector masses. By combining the constraints from the oblique parameters, $\text{Br}(H\toγγ)$, and direct production of the new fermions at the LHC, a comprehensive understanding of the discovery potential of these models can be achieved. In both scenarios, there exist some parameter regions where the Higgs precision measurements can provide complementary information to direct LHC searches.

The quarkonic contributions to the three-loop heavy-quark form factors for vector, axial-vector, scalar and pseudoscalar currents are described by closed form difference equations for the expansion coefficients in the limit of small virtualities $q^2/m^2$. A part of the contributions can be solved analytically and expressed in terms of harmonic and cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms and square-root valued iterated integrals. Other contributions obey equations which are not first-order factorizable. For them still infinite series expansions around the singularities of the form factors can be obtained by matching the expansions at intermediate points and using differential equations which are obeyed directly by the form factors and are derived by guessing algorithms. One may determine all expansion coefficients for $q^2 /m^2 \to \infty$ analytically in terms of multiple zeta values. By expanding around the threshold and pseudo-threshold, the corresponding constants are multiple zeta values supplemented by a finite amount of new constants, which can be computed at high precision. For a part of these coefficients, the infinite series in front of these constants may be even resummed into harmonic polylogarithms. In this way, one obtains a deeper analytic description of the massive form factors, beyond their pure numerical evaluation. The calculations of these analytic results are based on sophisticated computer algebra techniques. We also compare our results with numerical results in the literature.

Recently, the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) electroweak corrections with fermion loops to the Higgsstrahling process were computed. Here we present numerical results for polarized electron/positron beams, as well as for two input parameter schemes known as the $α(0)$ and $G_μ$ schemes. The size of the NNLO corrections strongly depends on the beam polarization, leading to an increase of the $ZH$ cross-section by 0.76% for $e^+_{\rm L} e^-_{\rm R}$ beams, and a decrease of 0.04% for $e^+_{\rm R} e^-_{\rm L}$ beams. Furthermore, inclusion of the NNLO corrections is found to significantly reduce the discrepancy between the results in the $α(0)$ and $G_μ$ schemes. Using the remaining difference, together with other methods, the theory uncertainty from missing bosonic electroweak corrections is estimated to be less than 0.3%.

This paper describes a modular framework for the description of electroweak scattering and decay processes, including but not limited to Z-resonance physics. The framework consistently combines a complex-pole expansion near a s-channel resonance with a regular fixed-order perturbative description away from the resonance, in a manifestly gauge-invariant scheme. Leading vertex correction contributions are encapsulated in form factors that can be predicted or treated as numerical fit parameters.
This framework has been implemented in the publicly available object-oriented C++ library GRIFFIN. Version 1.0 of this library provides Standard Model predictions for the process $f\bar{f} \to f'\bar{f}'$ with full NNLO and leading higher-order contributions on the Z-resonance, and with NLO corrections off resonance. The library can straightforwardly be extended to include higher-order corrections, should they become available, or predictions for new physics models. It can be interfaced with Monte-Carlo programs to account for QED and QCD initial-state and final-state radiation.

We calculate the quarkonic $O(α_s^2)$ massive operator matrix elements $ΔA_{Qg}(N), ΔA_{Qq}^{\rm PS}(N)$ and $ΔA_{qq,Q}^{\rm NS}(N)$ for the twist--2 operators and the associated heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in polarized deeply inelastic scattering in the region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ to $O(\varepsilon)$ in the case of the inclusive heavy flavor contributions. The evaluation is performed in Mellin space, without applying the integration-by-parts method. The result is given in terms of harmonic sums. This leads to a significant compactification of the operator matrix elements and massive Wilson coefficients in the region $Q^2 \gg m^2$ derived previously in \cite{BUZA2}, which we partly confirm, and also partly correct. The results allow to determine the heavy flavor Wilson coefficients for $g_1(x,Q^2)$ to $O(α_s^2)$ for all but the power suppressed terms $\propto (m^2/Q^2)^k, k \geq 1$. The results in momentum fraction $z$-space are also presented. We also discuss the small $x$ effects in the polarized case. Numerical results are presented. We also compute the gluonic matching coefficients in the two--mass variable flavor number scheme to $O(\varepsilon)$.

The precise measurement of physics observables and the test of their consistency within the standard model (SM) are an invaluable approach, complemented by direct searches for new particles, to determine the existence of physics beyond the standard model (BSM). Studies of massive electroweak gauge bosons (W and Z bosons) are a promising target for indirect BSM searches, since the interactions of photons and gluons are strongly constrained by the unbroken gauge symmetries. They can be divided into two categories: (a) Fermion scattering processes mediated by s- or t-channel W/Z bosons, also known as electroweak precision measurements; and (b) multi-boson processes, which include production of two or more vector bosons in fermion-antifermion annihilation, as well as vector boson scattering (VBS) processes. The latter categories can test modifications of gauge-boson self-interactions, and the sensitivity is typically improved with increased collision energy.
This report evaluates the achievable precision of a range of future experiments, which depend on the statistics of the collected data sample, the experimental and theoretical systematic uncertainties, and their correlations. In addition it presents a combined interpretation of these results, together with similar studies in the Higgs and top sector, in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) framework. This framework provides a model-independent prescription to put generic constraints on new physics and to study and combine large sets of experimental observables, assuming that the new physics scales are significantly higher than the EW scale.

Numerical results for the unpolarized differential and integrated cross-section at center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=240~\text{GeV}$ are provided. Furthermore, by studying the scheme dependence, we obtain an estimate of the current perturbative electroweak uncertainty, $δQ^e_W\approx0.23\times10^{-3}$, which is five times smaller than the precision estimated for the MOLLER experiment $(δQ_W^e=1.1\times10^{-3})$. Modern particle physics is increasingly becoming a precision science that relies on advanced theoretical predictions for the analysis and interpretation of experimental results. The planned physics program at the LHC and future colliders will require three-loop electroweak and mixed electroweak-QCD corrections to single-particle production and decay processes and two-loop electroweak corrections to pair production processes, all of which are beyond the reach of existing analytical and numerical techniques in their current form. This article presents a new semi-numerical approach based on differential equations with boundary terms specified at Euclidean kinematic points. These Euclidean boundary terms can be computed numerically with high accuracy using sector decomposition or other numerical methods. They are then mapped to the physical kinematic configuration with a series solution of the differential equation system. The method is able to deliver 8 or more digits precision, and it has a built-in mechanism for checking the accuracy of the obtained results. Its efficacy is illustrated with examples for three-loop self-energy and vertex integrals and two-loop box integrals.

New light singlet scalars with flavor-specific couplings represent a phenomenologically distinctive and flavor-safe alternative to the well-studied possibility of Higgs-portal scalars. However, in contrast to the Higgs portal, flavor-specific couplings require an ultraviolet completion involving new heavy states charged under the Standard Model gauge symmetries, leading to a host of additional novel phenomena. Focusing for concreteness on a scenario with up quark-specific couplings, we investigate two simple renormalizable completions, one with an additional vector-like quark and another featuring an extra scalar doublet. We consider the implications of naturalness, flavor- and CP-violation, electroweak precision observables, and direct searches for the new states at the LHC. These bounds, while being model-dependent, are shown to probe interesting regions in the parameter space of the scalar mass and its low-energy effective coupling, complementing the essential phenomenology of the low-energy effective theory at a variety of low and medium energy experiments.

Precision studies of the Higgs boson at future $e^+e^-$ colliders can help to shed light on fundamental questions related to electroweak symmetry breaking, baryogenesis, the hierarchy problem, and dark matter. The main production process, $e^+e^- \to HZ$, will need to be controlled with sub-percent precision, which requires the inclusion of next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) electroweak corrections. The most challenging class of diagrams are planar and non-planar double-box topologies with multiple massive propagators in the loops. This article proposes a technique for computing these diagrams numerically, by transforming one of the sub-loops through the use of Feynman parameters and a dispersion relation, while standard one-loop formulae can be used for the other sub-loop. This approach can be extended to deal with tensor integrals. The resulting numerical integrals can be evaluated in minutes on a single CPU core, to achieve about 0.1% relative precision.

After that a set of typical electroweak precision observables is introduced, as well as a range of input parameter measurements that are needed for making predictions within the Standard Model. Finally, it is discussed how comparisons of the electroweak precision observables between experiment and theory can be used to stress-test the Standard Model and probe new physics.

To achieve this sensitivity, precise predictions for the Standard Model expectations of these observables are needed, including corrections at the three- and four-loop level. In this article, results are presented for the calculation of a subset of three-loop mixed electroweak-QCD corrections, stemming from diagrams with a gluon exchange and two closed fermion loops. The numerical impact of these corrections is illustrated for a number of applications: the prediction of the W-boson mass from the Fermi constant, the effective weak mixing angle, and the partial and total widths of the Z boson. Two alternative renormalization schemes for the top-quark mass are considered, on-shell and $\overline{\mbox{MS}}$.

The calculation is performed in the limit of large center of mass energies squared $s \gg m_e^2$. These terms supplement the known corrections to $O(α^2)$, which were completed recently. Given the high precision at future colliders operating at very large luminosity, these corrections are important for concise theoretical predictions. The present calculation needs the calculation of one more two--loop massive operator matrix element in QED. The radiators are obtained as solutions of the associated Callen--Symanzik equations in the massive case. The radiators can be expressed in terms of harmonic polylogarithms to weight {\sf w = 6} of argument $z$ and $(1-z)$ and in Mellin $N$ space by generalized harmonic sums. Numerical results are presented on the position of the $Z$ peak and corrections to the $Z$ width, $Γ_Z$. The corrections calculated result into a final theoretical accuracy for $δM_Z$ and $δΓ_Z$ which is estimated to be of O(30 keV) at an anticipated systematic accuracy at the FCC\_ee of \sim 100 keV. This precision cannot be reached, however, by including only the corrections up to $O(α^3)$.

The corrections are represented in terms of iterated incomplete (elliptic) integrals over alphabets of square--root valued letters. In this way, we also confirm the validity of the factorization of massive partons in the Drell--Yan process. We add non--logarithmic terms at $O(α^2)$ which have not been considered in previous calculations. The final results in the limit $s \gg m_e^2$ can be given in terms of Nielsen integrals.

Future electron-position colliders, such as CEPC and FCC-ee, have the capability to dramatically improve the experimental precision for W and Z-boson masses and couplings. This would enable indirect probes of physics beyond the Standard Model at multi-TeV scales. For this purpose, one must complement the experimental measurements with equally precise calculations for the theoretical predictions of these quantities within the Standard Model, including three-loop electroweak corrections. This article reports on the calculation of a subset of these corrections, stemming from diagrams with three closed fermion loops to the following quantities: the prediction of the W-boson mass from the Fermi constant, the effective weak mixing angle, and partial and total widths of the Z boson. The numerical size of these corrections is relatively modest, but non-negligible compared to the precision targets of future colliders. In passing, an error is identified in previous results for the two-loop corrections to the Z width, with a small yet non-zero numerical impact.

At $e^+ \, e^-$ colliders the QED--initial state radiation forms a large part of the radiative corrections. Their precise and fast evaluation is an essential asset for the experiments at LEP, the ILC and the FCC-ee, operating at high luminosity. A long standing problem in the analytic calculation of the $O(α^2)$ initial state corrections concerns a discrepancy which has been observed between the result of Berends et al. (1988) \cite{Berends:1987ab} in the limit $m_e^2 \ll s$ and the result by Bl{ü}mlein et al. (2011) \cite{Blumlein:2011mi} using massive operator matrix elements deriving this limit directly. In order to resolve this important issue we recalculated this process by integrating directly over the phase space without any approximation. For parts of the corrections we find exact solutions of the cross section in terms of iterated integrals over square root valued letters representing incomplete elliptic integrals and iterations over them. The expansion in the limit $m_e^2 \ll s$ reveals errors in the constant $O(α^2)$ term of the former calculation and yields agreement with the calculation based on massive operator matrix elements, which has impact on the experimental analysis programs. This finding also explicitly proofs the factorization of massive initial state particles in the high energy limit including the terms of $O(α^2)$ for this process.

We present TVID 2, a program to numerically evaluate an important class of planar three-loop self-energy master integrals with arbitrary masses. As with the predecessor version (TVID 1) the integrals are separated into a known piece, containing the UV divergencies, and a finite piece that is integrated numerically, implemented in C. The set of master integrals under consideration was found with self-energy diagrams containing two closed fermion loops in mind. Two techniques are employed in deriving the expressions for the finite pieces that are then numerically integrated: (a) Sub-loop dispersion relations in the case of topologies containing sub-bubbles, and (b) a modification of the procedure suggested by Ghinculov for integrals with only sub-loop triangles.

We calculate all contributions $\propto T_F$ to the polarized three-loop anomalous dimensions in the M-scheme using massive operator matrix elements and compare to results in the literature. This includes the complete anomalous dimensions $γ_{qq}^{(2),\rm PS}$ and $γ_{qg}^{(2)}$. We also obtain the complete two-loop polarized anomalous dimensions in an independent calculation. While for most of the anomalous dimensions the usual direct computation methods in Mellin $N$-space can be applied since all recurrences factorize at first order, this is not the case for $γ_{qg}^{(2)}$. Due to the necessity of deeper expansions of the master integrals in the dimensional parameter $\varepsilon = D-4$, we had to use the method of arbitrary high moments to eliminate elliptic contributions in intermediate steps. 4000 moments were generated to determine this anomalous dimension and 2640 moments turned out to be sufficient. As an aside, we also recalculate the contributions $\propto T_F$ to the three-loop QCD $β$-function.

The input parameters are the masses $M_Z$, $M_H$ and $m_t$, and the couplings $α_s$, $α$. The scheme dependence due to the choice of $M_W$ or its alternative $G_μ$ as a last input parameter is also discussed. Recent substantial technical progress in the calculation of Minkowskian massive higher-order Feynman integrals allows the calculation of the complete electroweak two-loop radiative corrections to all the observables mentioned. QCD contributions are included appropriately. Results are provided in terms of simple and convenient parameterization formulae whose coefficients have been determined from the full numerical multi-loop calculation. The size of the missing electroweak three-loop or QCD higher-order corrections is estimated. We briefly comment on the prospects for their calculation. Due to the high anticipated experimental precision at the Future Circular Collider FCC-ee (or other proposed $e^+e^-$ colliders, such as ILC, CLIC, or CEPC) for electroweak and Higgs-boson precision measurements, theoretical uncertainties may have, if unattended, an important impact on the interpretation of these measurements within the Standard Model (SM), and thus on constraints on new physics. Current theory uncertainties, which would dominate the total uncertainty, need to be strongly reduced through future advances in the calculation of multi-loop radiative corrections together with improved experimental and theoretical control of the precision of SM input parameters. This document aims to provide an estimate of the required improvement in calculational accuracy in view of the anticipated high precision at the FCC-ee. For the most relevant electroweak and Higgs-boson precision observables we evaluate the corresponding quantitative impact.

We calculate the massive two--loop pure singlet Wilson coefficients for heavy quark production in the unpolarized case analytically in the whole kinematic region and derive the threshold and asymptotic expansions. We also recalculate the corresponding massless two--loop Wilson coefficients. The complete expressions contain iterated integrals with elliptic letters. The contributing alphabets enlarge the Kummer-Poincaré letters by a series of square-root valued letters. A new class of iterated integrals, the Kummer-elliptic integrals, are introduced. For the structure functions $F_2$ and $F_L$ we also derive improved asymptotic representations adding power corrections. Numerical results are presented.

We calculate the non-singlet, the pure singlet contribution, and their interference term, at $O(α^2)$ due to electron-pair initial state radiation to $e^+ e^-$ annihilation into a neutral vector boson in a direct analytic computation without any approximation. We calculate the non-singlet, the pure singlet contribution, and their interference term, at $O(α^2)$ due to electron-pair initial state radiation to $e^+ e^-$ annihilation into a neutral vector boson in a direct analytic computation without any approximation. The correction is represented in terms of iterated incomplete elliptic integrals. Performing the limit $s \gg m_e^2$ we find discrepancies with the earlier results of Ref.~\cite{Berends:1987ab} and confirm results obtained in Ref.~\cite{Blumlein:2011mi} where the effective method of massive operator matrix elements has been used, which works for all but the power corrections in $m^2/s$. In this way, we also confirm the validity of the factorization of massive partons in the Drell-Yan process. We also add non-logarithmic terms at $O(α^2)$ which have not been considered in \cite{Berends:1987ab}. The corrections are of central importance for precision analyzes in $e^+e^-$ annihilation into $γ^*/Z^*$ at high luminosity.

We consider here the present status and requirements on precision calculations, possible ways forward and novel methods, to match the experimental accuracies expected at the FCC-ee. We conclude that the challenge can be tackled by a distributed collaborative effort in academic institutions around the world, provided sufficient support, which is estimated to about 500 man-years over the next 20 years.

We investigate the thermal cosmology and terrestrial and astrophysical phenomenology of a sub-GeV hadrophilic dark sector. The specific construction explored in this work features a Dirac fermion dark matter candidate interacting with a light scalar mediator that dominantly couples to the up-quark. The correct freeze-out relic abundance may be achieved via dark matter annihilation directly to hadrons or through secluded annihilation to scalar mediators. A rich and distinctive phenomenology is present in this scenario, with probes arising from precision meson decays, proton beam dump experiments, colliders, direct detection experiments, supernovae, and nucleosynthesis. In the future, experiments such as NA62, REDTOP, SHiP, SBND, and NEWS-G will be able to explore a significant portion of the cosmologically motivated parameter space.

The future 100-km circular collider FCC at CERN is planned to operate in one of its modes as an electron-positron FCC-ee machine. We give an overview comparing the theoretical status to the experimental demands of one of four foreseen FCC-ee operating stages, Z-boson resonance energy physics, called the FCC-ee Tera-Z stage for short. The FCC-ee Tera-Z will deliver the highest integrated luminosities as well as very small systematic errors for a study of the Standard Model (SM) with unprecedented precision. In fact, the FCC-ee Tera-Z will allow the study of at least one more perturbative order in quantum field theory compared to the LEP/SLC precision. The real problem is that the present precision of theoretical calculations of the various SM observables does not match that of the anticipated experimental measurements. The bottle-necks to overcoming this situation are identified. In particular, the issues of precise QED unfolding and the correct calculation of SM pseudo-observables are critically reviewed. In an Executive Summary, we specify which basic theoretical calculations are needed to meet the strong experimental expectations at the FCC-ee Tera-Z. Several methods, techniques and tools needed for higher-order multi-loop calculations are presented. By inspection of the Z-boson partial and total decay width analyses, it is argued that at the beginning of operation of the FCC-ee Tera-Z, the theory predictions may be tuned to be precise enough not to limit the physics interpretation of the measurements. This statement is based on anticipated progress in analytical and numerical calculations of multi-loop and multi-scale Feynman integrals and on the completion of two-loop electroweak radiative corrections to the SM pseudo-observables this year. However, the above statement is conditional as the theoretical issues demand a very dedicated and focused investment by the community.

Abstract:
We report on recent results on the two-mass corrections for massive operator matrix elements at 2- and 3-loop orders in QCD. These corrections form the building blocks of the variable flavor number scheme. Due to the similar values of the charm and bottom quark masses the two-mass corrections form an important contribution.

We describe the analytic calculation of the master integrals required to compute the two-mass three-loop corrections to the $ρ$ parameter. In particular, we present the calculation of the master integrals for which the corresponding differential equations do not factorize to first order. The homogeneous solutions to these differential equations are obtained in terms of hypergeometric functions at rational argument. These hypergeometric functions can further be mapped to complete elliptic integrals, and the inhomogeneous solutions are expressed in terms of a new class of integrals of combined iterative non-iterative nature.
