How to employ $\bar{B}^0_d \to J/ψ(πη,\bar{K}K)$ decays to extract information on $πη$ scattering
Abstract: We demonstrate that dispersion theory allows one to deduce crucial information on $πη$ scattering from the final-state interactions of the light mesons visible in the spectral distributions of the decays $\bar{B}^0_d \to J/ψ(π^0η,K^+K^-,K^0\bar{K}^0)$. Thus high-quality measurements of these differential observables are highly desired. The corresponding rates are predicted to be of the same order… ▽ More

Effects of $Z_b$ states and bottom meson loops on $Υ(4S) \to Υ(1S,2S) π^+π^-$ transitions
Abstract: We study the dipion transitions $Υ(4S) \rightarrow Υ(nS) π^+π^-$ $(n=1,2)$. In particular, we consider the effects of the two intermediate bottomoniumlike exotic states $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$ as well as bottom meson loops. The strong pion-pion final-state interactions, especially including channel coupling to $K\bar{K}$ in the $S$-wave, are taken into account model-independently by using di… ▽ More

Effect of $Z_b$ states on $Υ(3S)\toΥ(1S)ππ$ decays
Abstract: Within the framework of dispersion theory, we analyze the dipion transitions between the lightest $Υ$ states, $Υ(nS) \rightarrow Υ(mS) ππ$ with $m < n \leq 3$. In particular, we consider the possible effects of two intermediate bottomoniumlike exotic states $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$. The $ππ$ rescattering effects are taken into account in a model-independent way using dispersion theory. We con… ▽ More

A model-independent analysis of final-state interactions in \bar B_{d/s}^0 --> J/psi pi pi
Abstract: Exploiting $B$-meson decays for Standard Model tests and beyond requires a precise understanding of the strong final-state interactions that can be provided model-independently by means of dispersion theory. This formalism allows one to deduce the universal pion-pion final-state interactions from the accurately known $ππ$ phase shifts and, in the scalar sector, a coupled-channel treatment with the… ▽ More

Improving the Hadron Physics of Non-Standard-Model Decays: Example Bounds on R-parity Violation
Abstract: Using the example of selected decays driven by R-parity-violating supersymmetric operators, we demonstrate how strong final-state interactions can be controlled quantitatively with high precision, thus allowing for a more accurate extraction of effective parameters from data. In our examples we focus on the lepton-flavor-violating decays tau --> mu pi+ pi-. In R-parity violation these can arise du… ▽ More
