We report a lattice QCD calculation of the parton distribution function (PDF) of a deuteron-like dibaryon system using large-momentum effective theory. The calculation is done on three Wilson Clover ensembles with a fixed lattice spacing a=0.105 fm and two pion masses. The lattice matrix elements are computed at proton momenta up to 2.46 GeV with the signal of high momentum modes being improved by applying the momentum smearing technique. The state-of-the-art renormalization, matching and extrapolation are then applied to obtain the final result of the light-cone PDF. A comparison between the result of the dibaryon system and the sum of the proton and neutron PDFs is also given.

Evidence of $η_{c}(2S)\toωω$ is found with a statistical significance of $3.2σ$. The branching fraction is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\toωω)=(5.65\pm3.77(\rm stat.)\pm5.32(\rm syst.))\times10^{-4}$. No statistically significant signal is observed for the decay $η_{c}(2S)\toωφ$. The upper limit of the branching fraction at the 90\% confidence level is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(2S)\toγη_{c}(2S),η_{c}(2S)\toωφ)<2.24\times 10^{-7}$. We also update the branching fractions of $χ_{cJ}\to ωω$ and $χ_{cJ}\toωφ$ decays via the $ψ(2S)\toγχ_{cJ}$ transition. The branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toωω)=(10.63\pm0.11\pm0.46)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\toωω)=(6.39\pm0.07\pm0.29)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toωω)=(8.50\pm0.08\pm0.38)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toωφ)=(1.18\pm0.03\pm0.05)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\toωφ)=(2.03\pm0.15\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toωφ)=(9.37\pm1.07\pm0.59)\times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

The total cross sections of the process $e^+ e^-\to Λ_c^+ \barΛ_c^-$ close to the threshold are calculated within the vector meson dominance model. It is found that the theoretical results can describe the current experimental measurements. In particular, the results for the angular distribution parameters about the differential cross section are consistent with the experiments from BESIII Collaboration. In addition, the relative phase $ΔΦ$ of the electromagnetic form factors was given, and the spin polarization of $Λ_c^+$ is predicted at center-mass energy $4.7 \ \rm GeV$. It is hopeful to provide a new perspective on the characteristics of the charmed baryon $Λ_c^+$.

By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, ${\mathcal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+})$, we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results $(6.9 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.5 ({\rm syst}) \pm 1.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, $(1.6 \pm 0.2 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.3 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, and $(1.2 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.1 ({\rm syst}) \pm 0.2 ({\rm norm})) \times 10^{-3}$, for $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ decays to $Ξ^{0}π^{0}$, $Ξ^{0}η$, and $Ξ^{0}η^{\prime}$ final states, respectively. The third errors are from the uncertainty on ${\mathcal B}(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{-}π^{+})$. The asymmetry parameter for $Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0}$ is measured to be $α(Ξ_{c}^{0}\toΞ^{0}π^{0}) = -0.90\pm0.15({\rm stat})\pm0.23({\rm syst})$.

Dark sector may exist and interact with Standard Model (SM) through the $U(1)$ kinetic mixing. Through this portal-type interaction, dark photon from dark sector couples to SM fermions, and may explain the discrepancy between experimental data and SM calculations on muon anomalous magnetic moment, muon $g-2$. However, current searches for dark photon impose stringent constraints on the mixing parameter $\varepsilon$ for various dark photon masses, excluding the favorite parameter space for muon $g-2$. In this paper, we study the case where a global $U(1)$ in dark sector is spontaneously broken, resulting a light pseudo-Goldstone, axion-like particle (ALP) $a$, which couples to dark photon and SM photon, $g_{aγγ'}$. Through this interaction, dark photon may decay into photon and ALP when this channel is kinematically allowed. As a result, the experimental constraints on dark photon change significantly, and dark photon is able to explain the muon $g-2$ anomaly when its mass is heavier than $10$ GeV.

The invisible decay includes two decay modes: $ n \rightarrow { inv} $ and $ nn \rightarrow { inv} $. The invisible decays of $s$-shell neutrons in $^{12}{\rm C}$ will leave a highly excited residual nucleus. Subsequently, some de-excitation modes of the excited residual nuclei can produce a time- and space-correlated triple coincidence signal in the JUNO detector. Based on a full Monte Carlo simulation informed with the latest available data, we estimate all backgrounds, including inverse beta decay events of the reactor antineutrino $\barν_e$, natural radioactivity, cosmogenic isotopes and neutral current interactions of atmospheric neutrinos. Pulse shape discrimination and multivariate analysis techniques are employed to further suppress backgrounds. With two years of exposure, JUNO is expected to give an order of magnitude improvement compared to the current best limits. After 10 years of data taking, the JUNO expected sensitivities at a 90% confidence level are $τ/B( n \rightarrow { inv} ) > 5.0 \times 10^{31} \, {\rm yr}$ and $τ/B( nn \rightarrow { inv} ) > 1.4 \times 10^{32} \, {\rm yr}$.

We investigate two classes of inflationary models, which lead to a stiff period after inflation that boosts the signal of primordial gravitational waves (GWs). In both families of models studied, we consider an oscillating scalar condensate, which when far away from the minimum it is overdamped by a warped kinetic term, a la $α$-attractors. This leads to successful inflation. The oscillating condensate is in danger of becoming fragmented by resonant effects when non-linearities take over. Consequently, the stiff phase cannot be prolonged enough to enhance primordial GWs at frequencies observable in the near future for low orders of the envisaged scalar potential. However, this is not the case for a higher-order scalar potential. Indeed, we show that this case results in a boosted GW spectrum that overlaps with future observations without generating too much GW radiation to de-stabilise Big Bang Nucleosynthesis. For example, taking $α={\cal O}(1)$, we find that the GW signal can be safely enhanced up to $Ω_{\rm GW}(f)\sim 10^{-11}$ at frequency $f\sim 10^2\,$Hz, which will be observable by the Einstein Telescope (ET). Our mechanism ends up with a characteristic GW spectrum, which if observed, can lead to the determination of the inflation energy scale, the reheating temperature and the shape (steepness) of the scalar potential around the minimum.

Horndeski's vector-tensor (HVT) gravity is described by a Lagrangian in which the field strength $F_{μν}=\partial_μ A_ν-\partial_ν A_μ$ of a vector field $A_μ$ interacts with a double dual Riemann tensor $L^{μναβ}$ in the form $βL^{μναβ} F_{μν} F_{αβ}$, where $β$ is a constant. In Einstein-Maxwell-HVT theory, there are static and spherically symmetric black hole (BH) solutions with electric or magnetic charges, whose metric components are modified from those in the Reissner-Nordström geometry. The electric-magnetic duality of solutions is broken even at the background level by the nonvanishing coupling constant $β$. We compute a second-order action of BH perturbations containing both the odd- and even-parity modes and show that there are four dynamical perturbations arising from the gravitational and vector-field sectors. We derive all the linear stability conditions associated with the absence of ghosts and radial/angular Laplacian instabilities for both the electric and magnetic BHs. These conditions exhibit the difference between the electrically and magnetically charged cases by reflecting the breaking of electric-magnetic duality at the level of perturbations. In particular, the four angular propagation speeds in the large-multipole limit are different from each other for both the electric and magnetic BHs. This suggests the breaking of eikonal correspondence between the peak position of at least one of the potentials of dynamical perturbations and the radius of photon sphere. For the electrically and magnetically charged cases, we elucidate parameter spaces of the HVT coupling and the BH charge in which the BHs without naked singularities are linearly stable.

The absolute branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ is measured for the first time to be $(0.729 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat} \pm 0.011_{\rm syst})\%$. Based on an amplitude analysis, the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ contribution is determined to be $(5.76 \pm 0.35_{\rm stat} \pm 0.29_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate in addition to the dominated $K^{*}(892)^-$ component. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ$ is given to be $(2.062 \pm 0.039_{\rm stat} \pm 0.032_{\rm syst})\%$, which improves the precision of the world average by a factor of 5. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is $\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)} = 0.96\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton flavor universality. Furthermore, assuming single-pole dominance parameterization, the most precise hadronic form factor ratios for $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^{-} μ^+ν_μ$ are extracted to be $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.37 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst}$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.76 \pm 0.06_{\rm stat} \pm 0.02_{\rm syst}$.

The recent advancements in black hole imaging have opened a new era of probing horizon-scale physics with electromagnetic radiation. However, a feature of the observed images, a bright ring encircling a relatively dark region, has not sufficiently proved the existence of event horizons. It thus requires extreme care when studying the possibility of using such image features to examine quantum effects that may change the classical picture of black holes slightly or drastically. In this work, we investigate the image of a horizonless compact object, whose interior metric satisfies the 4D semi-classical Einstein equation non-perturbatively for the Planck constant, and whose entropy agrees with the Bekenstein-Hawking formula. Although the absence of an event horizon allows light rays to pass through the dense interior, the extremely strong redshift significantly darkens the image, making it almost identical to the classical black-hole image. In particular, if there is light emission a bit inside the surface of the object, the intensity around the inner shadow is slightly enhanced, which could be a future observable prediction to characterize the object. We also find through a phenomenological parameter that the image is further darkened due to interactions inside. Thus, the image is consistent with current observations, and the object could be a candidate for black holes in quantum theory.

Meanwhile, the model can address tensions between some experimental measurements and standard model (SM) predictions in flavor physics, such as the muon $g-2$ excess and the higher BR of $B_s \to μ^- μ^+$. We introduce in the model the following dark particles: a neutral singlet Dirac-type lepton ($N$); two inert Higgs doublets ($η_{1,2}$), with one of which carrying a lepton number; a charged singlet dark scalar $(χ^+)$, and a singlet vector-like up-type dark quark ($T$). The first two entities are responsible for the radiative neutrino mass, and $χ^+$ couples to right-handed quarks and leptons and can resolve the tensions existing in muon $g-2$ and $B_s\to μ^- μ^+$. Furthermore, the BR of $B^+ \to K^+ ν\barν$ can be enhanced up to a factor of 2 compared to the SM prediction through the mediations of the dark $T$ and the charged scalars. In addition, we also study the impacts on the $K\to πν\barν$ decays.

We present details on a new measurement of the muon magnetic anomaly, $a_μ= (g_μ-2)/2$. The result is based on positive muon data taken at Fermilab's Muon Campus during the 2019 and 2020 accelerator runs. The measurement uses $3.1$ GeV$/c$ polarized muons stored in a $7.1$-m-radius storage ring with a $1.45$ T uniform magnetic field. The value of $ a_μ$ is determined from the measured difference between the muon spin precession frequency and its cyclotron frequency. This difference is normalized to the strength of the magnetic field, measured using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). The ratio is then corrected for small contributions from beam motion, beam dispersion, and transient magnetic fields. We measure $a_μ= 116 592 057 (25) \times 10^{-11}$ (0.21 ppm). This is the world's most precise measurement of this quantity and represents a factor of $2.2$ improvement over our previous result based on the 2018 dataset. In combination, the two datasets yield $a_μ(\text{FNAL}) = 116 592 055 (24) \times 10^{-11}$ (0.20 ppm). Combining this with the measurements from Brookhaven National Laboratory for both positive and negative muons, the new world average is $a_μ$(exp) $ = 116 592 059 (22) \times 10^{-11}$ (0.19 ppm).

The model parameters are determined by fitting them to the cross sections of the process $e^+e^-\rightarrow Λ_c^+ \barΛ_c^-$ and the magnetic form factor $|G_M|$ of $Λ^+_c$. By considering four charmoniumlike states, called $ψ(4500)$, $ψ(4660)$, $ψ(4790)$, and $ψ(4900)$, we can well describe the current data on the $e^+ e^- \to Λ^+_c \barΛ^-_c$ reaction from the reaction threshold up to $4.96 \ \mathrm{GeV}$. In addition to the total cross sections and $|G_M|$, the ratio $|G_E/G_M|$ and effective form factor $|G_{\mathrm{eff}}|$ for $Λ^+_c$ are also calculated, and found that these calculations are consistent with the experimental data. Within the fitted model parameters, we have also estimated the charge radius of the charmed $Λ_c^+$ baryon.

This effect may be helpful in forming the $X(6900)$ peak.

Furthermore, we have derived the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the time-like region, and it is found that the so-called periodic behaviour of the nucleon effective form factors is not confirmed. However, there are indeed nonmonotonic structures in the line shape of nucleon effective form factors, which can be naturally reproduced by considering the contributions from the low-lying excited vector states.

Such observation of high energy gamma-ray bursts from distant source causes a mystery since high energy photons suffer severe attenuation before reaching the earth. One possibility is the existence of axion-like particles (ALP), and high energy photons at the source can convert to these ALPs which travel intergalactically. In this paper, we study the effects of extra dimensions on the conversion probability between photon and ALPs. The conversion probability saturates and may reach almost $100\%$ for high energy photons. We show that the size of extra dimension affects the energy at which saturation occurs. The observations of high-energy photons may support the possibility of smaller extra dimension.

Leptoquarks (LQs) have been extensively studied in the context of $B$ anomalies. When $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ is introduced to a scalar LQ model with the LQ $S_1$ charged under the new symmetry, $S_1$ primarily couples to the third-generation leptons while its couplings to first and second-generation leptons are naturally suppressed. Furthermore, only $S_1$ in the scalar LQ models has the feature that down-type quarks merely couple to neutrinos but not the charged leptons, avoiding strict restrictions from $b\to s μ^+ μ^-$. With this distinctive characteristic of $S_1$, we investigate its impact on rare processes involving the $d_i \to d_j ν\barν$ transitions. Under the dominant constraints from $ΔF=2$ processes, we find that the $S_1$ contributions to the branching ratios (BRs) of $B\to K(K^*) ν\barν$ and $K_L \to π^0 ν\barν$ can be factorized into the same multiplicative factor multiplying the standard model predictions. Enhancement in the BRs can possibly exceed a factor of 2. In particular, ${\cal B}(K^+\to π^+ ν\barν)$ can reach the upper $1σ$ error of the experimental value, i.e., $\simeq 15.4 \times 10^{-11}$. We also show that the model can fit the new world averages of $R(D)$ and $R(D^*)$.

The core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is considered one of the most energetic astrophysical events in the universe. The early and prompt detection of neutrinos before (pre-SN) and during the supernova (SN) burst presents a unique opportunity for multi-messenger observations of CCSN events. In this study, we describe the monitoring concept and present the sensitivity of the system to pre-SN and SN neutrinos at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector currently under construction in South China. The real-time monitoring system is designed to ensure both prompt alert speed and comprehensive coverage of progenitor stars. It incorporates prompt monitors on the electronic board as well as online monitors at the data acquisition stage. Assuming a false alert rate of 1 per year, this monitoring system exhibits sensitivity to pre-SN neutrinos up to a distance of approximately 1.6 (0.9) kiloparsecs and SN neutrinos up to about 370 (360) kiloparsecs for a progenitor mass of 30 solar masses, considering both normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. The pointing ability of the CCSN is evaluated by analyzing the accumulated event anisotropy of inverse beta decay interactions from pre-SN or SN neutrinos. This, along with the early alert, can play a crucial role in facilitating follow-up multi-messenger observations of the next galactic or nearby extragalactic CCSN.

Neutrino oscillations at the highest energies and longest baselines provide a natural quantum interferometer with which to study the structure of spacetime and test the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics. If the metric of spacetime has a quantum mechanical description, there is a generic expectation that its fluctuations at the Planck scale would introduce non-unitary effects that are inconsistent with the standard unitary time evolution of quantum mechanics. Neutrinos interacting with such fluctuations would lose their quantum coherence, deviating from the expected oscillatory flavor composition at long distances and high energies. The IceCube South Pole Neutrino Observatory is a billion-ton neutrino telescope situated in the deep ice of the Antarctic glacier. Atmospheric neutrinos detected by IceCube in the energy range 0.5--10 TeV have been used to test for coherence loss in neutrino propagation. No evidence of anomalous neutrino decoherence was observed, leading to the strongest experimental limits on neutrino-quantum gravity interactions to date, significantly surpassing expectations from natural Planck-scale models. The resulting constraint on the effective decoherence strength parameter within an energy-independent decoherence model is $Γ_0\leq 1.17\times10^{-15}$~eV, improving upon past limits by a factor of 30. For decoherence effects scaling as E$^2$, limits are advanced by more than six orders of magnitude beyond past measurements.

We examine the backreaction effect of the enhanced small-scale scalar perturbations from the sound speed resonance (SSR) mechanism for primordial black hole formation in Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) inflation on background as well as curvature perturbation, which can generate a considerable amount of primordial black holes (PBH) in the radiation-dominated epoch. Within the perturbative regime, the backreaction effect of perturbations on the background dynamics can be described by an effective action after integrating out the perturbation sector. Starting with the effective field theory of a specific DBI inflation model that incorporates SSR, we obtain the one-loop effective action by integrating out the scalar perturbations at the quadratic level. Using the effective Friedmann equations derived from this one-loop effective action, we solve the Hubble parameter with backreaction and the effective perturbation dynamics on this background as well. Our numerical findings reveal that, for a viable parameter space, the backreaction effect results in a relative correction to the Hubble parameter of approximately $10^{-7}$, whereas the relative correction to the slow-roll parameter can vary between $-0.3$ and $0.1$, before gradually converging to $10^{-7}$. Furthermore, our results show that the backreaction effect on SSR sound speed causes a slight reduction in the resonant peak of the curvature power spectrum, and the subsequent PBH formation predicted by the SSR mechanism remains almost unchanged.

We explore orbital implications of the Supermassive Black Hole (SMBH) binary in UGC4211 for the energy spectrum of stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB), measured with pulsar timing. The SMBH binary in UGC4211 has a projected separation of $\sim 230\,$pc and relative velocity of $\sim 150\,$km/s along the line of sight. It orbits with a disk of gas and stars, with a total mass $\sim 1.7 \times 10^9 M_\odot$ that is several times larger than the combined SMBHs plus the observed gas and stars. The unseen mass can be naturally explained by a soliton of wave dark matter present within the SMBH orbit. Such a scenario is encouraging as during galaxy merger, the two precursor galactic solitons are expected to combine to generate a new soliton and hence bind the two initial SMBHs efficiently. Generalizing this scenario to the cosmological population of SMBH binaries, we show the SGWB spectrum produced by late-stage inspiraling is modified preferentially at low frequency by the presence of soliton. Finally, we demonstrate that the NANOGrav and EPTA data can be well-fit in this scenario, favoring $\{m_a, f_a\} \sim \{10^{-21.7} {\rm eV}, 10^{15.5} {\rm GeV}\}$ and $\{10^{-20.5} {\rm eV}, 10^{16.8} {\rm GeV}\}$ respectively when the UGC4211 data and the constraints from dwarf galaxies are also combined.

It is the result of a community effort, incorporating insights from a series of workshops conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. With a track record of over 25 years in delivering the world's most intense and precise multi-GeV electron beams, CEBAF's potential for a higher energy upgrade presents a unique opportunity for an innovative nuclear physics program, which seamlessly integrates a rich historical background with a promising future. The proposed physics program encompass a diverse range of investigations centered around the nonperturbative dynamics inherent in hadron structure and the exploration of strongly interacting systems. It builds upon the exceptional capabilities of CEBAF in high-luminosity operations, the availability of existing or planned Hall equipment, and recent advancements in accelerator technology. The proposed program cover various scientific topics, including Hadron Spectroscopy, Partonic Structure and Spin, Hadronization and Transverse Momentum, Spatial Structure, Mechanical Properties, Form Factors and Emergent Hadron Mass, Hadron-Quark Transition, and Nuclear Dynamics at Extreme Conditions, as well as QCD Confinement and Fundamental Symmetries. According to general relativity, an isolated black hole in vacuum shall be described by the Kerr metric, whose geodesic equations are integrable. The violation of integrability leads to chaos for particles moving around the black hole. This chaotic dynamics could leave imprints on the associated gravitational waveform and could be tested with upcoming observations. In this paper, we investigate the chaotic orbital dynamics induced by the violation of a certain spacetime symmetry, the circularity. Specifically, we focus on the resonant orbits of a particular noncircular spacetime as an example and find that they form chains of Birkhoff islands on Poincaré surfaces of section. We compare the island structures with those generated in typical nonintegrable but circular spacetimes. The islands of stability induced by noncircularity appear asymmetric on the most common Poincaré surface of section at the equatorial plane. The asymmetric patterns of islands vary discontinuously when the spacetime parameters transit through integrable regions. The origin of such features is explained in the context of perturbation analysis by considering the orbits associated with stable fixed points on the section. Possible observational implications about testing circularity through gravitational wave detection are discussed.

We revisit the growth of curvature perturbations in non-minimal curvaton scenario with a non-trivial field metric $λ(φ)$ where $φ$ is an inflaton field, and incorporate the effect from the non-uniform onset of curvaton's oscillation in terms of an axion-like potential. The field metric $λ(φ)$ plays a central role in the enhancement of curvaton field perturbation $δχ$, serving as an effective friction term which can be either positive or negative, depending on the first derivative $λ_{,φ}$.Our analysis reveals that $δχ$ undergoes the superhorizon growth when the condition $η_\text{eff} \equiv - 2 \sqrt{2ε} M_\text{Pl} { λ_{,φ} \over λ} < -3$ is satisfied. This is analogous to the mechanism responsible for the amplification of curvature perturbations in the context of ultra-slow-roll inflation, namely the growing modes dominate curvature perturbations. As a case study, we examine the impact of a Gaussian dip in $λ(φ)$ and conduct a thorough investigation of both the analytical and numerical aspects of the inflationary dynamics. Our findings indicate that the enhancement of curvaton perturbations during inflation is not solely determined by the depth of the dip in $λ(φ)$. Rather, the first derivative $λ_{,φ}$ also plays a significant role, a feature that has not been previously highlighted in the literature. Utilizing the $δ\mathcal{N}$ formalism, we derive analytical expressions for both the final curvature power spectrum and the non-linear parameter $f_\text{NL}$ in terms of an axion-like curvaton's potential leading to the non-uniform curvaton's oscillation. Additionally, the resulting primordial black hole abundance and scalar-induced gravitational waves are calculated, which provide observational windows for PBHs.

Recent measurements of $R_{D}$ and $R_{D^{*}}$ by the LHCb collaboration show deviations from their respective Standard Model values. These semileptonic $B$ meson decays, associated with $b\rightarrow c τ\barν$ transition, are pointing toward new physics beyond the Standard Model via leptonic flavor universality violation. In this paper, we show that such anomaly can be resolved by the cummulative Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of singlet right-handed neutrino which propagates in the large extra dimensional space. We found that the number of extra dimension should be 2 to explain $R_{D}$ and $R_{D^{*}}$. We show that both $R_{D}$ and $R_{D^{*}}$ constraint the energy scale $M_{F}$ of this extra dimension which are compatible with the limits from lepton flavor violating tau decays. In contrast, our findings are in tension with the limits coming from the neutrino experiments which set the most stringent lower bound on $M_{F}$. The future measurements of $R_{D^{(*)}}^{exp}$ with reduced uncertainties will exclude this extra dimensional model with right-handed neutrino propagating in the bulk, if the central values stay.

A quark+diquark Faddeev equation treatment of the baryon bound state problem in Poincaré-invariant quantum field theory is used to deliver parameter-free predictions for all six $Δ$-baryon elastic weak form factors. Amongst the results, it is worth highlighting that there are two distinct classes of such $Δ$-baryon form factors, $(g_1, g_3, G_{πΔΔ})$, $(h_1, h_3, H_{πΔΔ})$, the functions within each of which are separately linked via partial conservation of axial current (PCAC) and Goldberger-Treiman (GT) relations. Respectively within each class, the listed form factors possess qualitatively the same structural features as the nucleon axial, induced pseudoscalar, and pion-nucleon coupling form factors. For instance, the $Δ$-baryon $g_1$ axial form factor can reliably be approximated by a dipole function, characterised by an axial charge $g_A^{Δ^+}=0.71(9)$ and mass-scale $m_A^Δ=0.95(2)m_Δ$. Moreover, the two distinct $Δ$-baryon PCAC form factor relations are satisfied to a high degree of accuracy on a large range of $Q^2$; the associated GT relations present good approximations only on $Q^2/m_Δ^2 \simeq 0$; and pion pole dominance approximations are reliable within both classes. There are two $πΔΔ$ couplings: $g_{πΔΔ} = 10.46(1.88)$; $h_{πΔΔ}= 35.73(3.75)$; and the associated form factors are soft. Such couplings commonly arise in phenomenology, which may therefore benefit from our analyses. A flavour decomposition of the axial charges reveals that quarks carry $71$\% of the $Δ$-baryon spin. The analogous result for the proton is $\approx 65$\%.

A $Z'$ gauge boson with sub-GeV mass has acquired a significant interest in phenomenology, particularly in view of the muon $g-2$ anomaly and coherent elastic neutrino-nucleon scattering. The latter is challenged by the nuclear recoil energy of a few tens of keV but has been observed by the COHERENT experiment. To further reconcile the observed excesses in $R(D^{(*)})$ from semileptonic charmful $B$ decays and in the $W$ boson mass, we investigate a model with a gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ symmetry and a scalar leptoquark. In contrast to the mechanism that involves kinetic mixing between the gauge bosons of $U(1)_{\rm em}$ and $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$, we adopt a dynamical symmetry breaking of $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ by incorporating an additional Higgs doublet. Through mixing with the $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$-charged Higgs doublet, new Higgs decay channels $h\to Z_1 Z_1/Z_1 Z_2$ occur at percent-level branching ratios, which could be accessible at the LHC. The $W$-mass anomaly observed by CDF II can be potentially resolved through the enhancement in the oblique parameter $T$. Due to the flavored gauge symmetry, the introduced scalar leptoquark $S^{\frac{1}{3}}=(\bar{3},1,2/3)$ exhibits a unique coupling to the $τ$-lepton, offering an explanation for the excesses observed in $R(D^{(*)})$. Moreover, $τ\to μ(Z_1\to ) e^- e^+$ via the resonant light gauge boson decay can reach the sensitivity of Belle II at an integrated luminosity of 50 ab$^{-1}$.

No significant $H$-dibaryon signal is observed in the $Ξ^-p$ final state. This is the first study of hyperon-nucleon interactions in electron-positron collisions and opens up a new direction for such research.

The pointwise behaviour of the predicted DFs and, consequently, their moments, compare favourably with results inferred from data. Notably, flavour-separated singlet polarised DFs are small. On the other hand, the polarised gluon DF, $ΔG(x;ζ_{\rm C})$, is large and positive. Using our result, we predict $\int_{0.05}^1\,dx\,ΔG(x;ζ_{\rm C}) = 0.214(4)$ and that experimental measurements of the proton flavour-singlet axial charge should return $a_0^{\rm E}(ζ_{\rm C}) = 0.35(2)$.

Dark Matter particles in the Galactic Center and halo can annihilate or decay into a pair of neutrinos producing a monochromatic flux of neutrinos. The spectral feature of this signal is unique and it is not expected from any astrophysical production mechanism. Its observation would constitute a dark matter smoking gun signal. We performed the first dedicated search with a neutrino telescope for such signal, by looking at both the angular and energy information of the neutrino events. To this end, a total of five years of IceCube's DeepCore data has been used to test dark matter masses ranging from 10~GeV to 40~TeV. No significant neutrino excess was found and upper limits on the annihilation cross section, as well as lower limits on the dark matter lifetime, were set. The limits reached are of the order of $10^{-24}$~cm$^3/s$ for an annihilation and up to $10^{27}$ seconds for decaying Dark Matter. Using the same data sample we also derive limits for dark matter annihilation or decay into a pair of Standard Model charged particles.

PICO bubble chambers have exceptional sensitivity to inelastic dark matter-nucleus interactions due to a combination of their extended nuclear recoil energy detection window from a few keV to $O$(100 keV) or more and the use of iodine as a heavy target. Inelastic dark matter-nucleus scattering is interesting for studying the properties of dark matter, where many theoretical scenarios have been developed. This study reports the results of a search for dark matter inelastic scattering with the PICO-60 bubble chambers. The analysis reported here comprises physics runs from PICO-60 bubble chambers using CF$_{3}$I and C$_{3}$F$_{8}$. The CF$_{3}$I run consisted of 36.8 kg of CF$_{3}$I reaching an exposure of 3415 kg-day operating at thermodynamic thresholds between 7 and 20 keV. The C$_{3}$F$_{8}$ runs consisted of 52 kg of C$_{3}$F$_{8}$ reaching exposures of 1404 kg-day and 1167 kg-day running at thermodynamic thresholds of 2.45 keV and 3.29 keV, respectively. The analysis disfavors various scenarios, in a wide region of parameter space, that provide a feasible explanation of the signal observed by DAMA, assuming an inelastic interaction, considering that the PICO CF$_{3}$I bubble chamber used iodine as the target material.

The observed flavor-changing neutral-current (FCNC) processes in the standard model (SM) arise from the loop diagrams involving the weak charged currents mediated by the $W$-gauge boson. Nevertheless, the top-quark FCNCs and lepton-flavor violating processes resulting from the same mechanism are highly suppressed. We investigate possible new physics effects that can enhance the suppressed FCNC processes, such as $t\to q(h,V)$ with $V=γ,Z,g$, $h\to \ell \ell'$, and $\ell\to \ell' γ$. To achieve the assumption that the induced-FCNCs are all from quantum loops, we consider the scotogenic mechanism, where a $Z_2$ symmetry is introduced and only new particles carry an odd $Z_2$ parity. With the extension of the SM to include an inert Higgs doublet, an inert charged Higgs singlet, a vector-like singlet quark, and two neutral leptons, it is found that, with relevant constraints taken into account, the $t\to c (h, Z)$, $h\to μτ$, and $τ\to \ell γ$ decays can be enhanced up to the expected sensitivities in experiments. The branching ratios of $h\to μ^+ μ^-/τ^+ τ^-$ from only new physics effects can reach up to ${\cal O}(10^{-3})$. Intriguingly, the resulting muon $g-2$ can fit the combined data within $2σ$ errors, whereas the electron $g-2$ can have either sign with a magnitude of ${\cal O}(10^{-13}-10^{-12})$. In addition, we examine the oblique parameters in the model and find that the resulting $W$-mass anomaly observed by CDF II can be accommodated.

Here we study the quark orbital angular momentum of the ground octet baryons employing an extended chiral constituent quark model, within which the baryon wave functions are taken to be superposition of the traditional $qqq$ and the $qqqq\bar{q}$ higher Fock components. Coupling between the two configurations is estimated using the $^3P_{0}$ quark-antiquark creation mechanism, and the corresponding coupling strength is determined by fitting the sea flavor asymmetry of the nucleon. The obtained numerical results show that the quark angular momentum of the nucleon, $Σ$, $Λ$ and $Ξ$ hyperons are in the range $0.10$-$0.30$. In addition, the quark angular momentum of all the hyperons are a little bit smaller than that of the nucleon. And the octet baryons spin fractions taken by the intrinsic quark orbital angular momentum could be up to $60\%$ in present model.

The result for the $Σ^-$ is in agreement with the experimental date.

If the dark sector exists and communicates with Standard Model through the $U(1)$ mixing, it is possible that electromagnetism would have influence on matter fields in dark sector, so-called millicharge particles (mCPs). Furthermore, the highest mCPs could be dark matter particles. Recently it has been shown that the mCPs would be slowed down and captured by the earth. As a result, the number density of accumulated mCPs underground is enhanced by several orders of magnitude as compared to that of dark matter in our solar system. In this study, we propose to use the Mach-Zehnder (MZ) laser interferometer to detect earth bound mCPs through the detection of phase shifts of photons. We show that, for mass of mCPs lager than $1$ GeV, the sensitivity of probing the mixing parameter $ε$ could reach as low as $10^{-11}$ if number density is larger than $1~\rm{cm^{-3}}$.

When adopted in black hole spacetimes, geometric-optics approximations imply a mapping between the quasinormal mode (QNM) spectrum of black holes in the eikonal limit and black hole images. In particular, the real part and the imaginary part of eikonal QNM frequencies are associated with the apparent size and the detailed structure of the ring images, respectively. This correspondence could be violated when going beyond general relativity. We propose a novel method to test the eikonal correspondence via the comparison of two sets of observables from a nonrotating black hole, one extracted from QNM spectra and the other from the lensed photon rings on the image plane. Specifically, the photon ring observables robustly capture the information of the black hole spacetime itself regardless of the surrounding emission models. Therefore, the proposed test of eikonal correspondence can be validated in quite broad scenarios.

This paper presents the results of a search for neutrinos that are spatially and temporally coincident with 22 unique, non-repeating Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) and one repeating FRB (FRB121102). FRBs are a rapidly growing class of Galactic and extragalactic astrophysical objects that are considered a potential source of high-energy neutrinos. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory's previous FRB analyses have solely used track events. This search utilizes seven years of IceCube's cascade events which are statistically independent of the track events. This event selection allows probing of a longer range of extended timescales due to the low background rate. No statistically significant clustering of neutrinos was observed. Upper limits are set on the time-integrated neutrino flux emitted by FRBs for a range of extended time-windows.

Abstract:
The first direct measurement of the absolute branching fraction of $Σ^+ \to Λe^+ ν_{e}$ is reported based on an $e^+e^-$ annihilation sample of $(10087\pm44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV. The branching fraction is determined to be ${\mathcal B}(Σ^+ \to Λe^+ ν_{e}) = [2.93\pm0.74(\rm stat) \pm 0.13(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-5}$, which is the most…

The branching fraction is determined to be ${\mathcal B}(Σ^+ \to Λe^+ ν_{e}) = [2.93\pm0.74(\rm stat) \pm 0.13(\rm syst)]\times 10^{-5}$, which is the most precise measurement obtained in a single experiment to date and also the first result obtained at a collider experiment. Combining this result with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(Σ^- \to Λe^- \barν_{e})$ and the lifetimes of $Σ^{\pm}$, the ratio, $\frac{Γ(Σ^- \to Λe^- \barν_{e})}{Γ(Σ^+ \to Λe^+ ν_{e})}$, is determined to be $1.06 \pm 0.28$, which is within 1.8 standard deviations of the value expected in the absence of second-class currents that are forbidden in the Standard Model.

Making use of the world-average branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛπ^+π^0)$, their branching fractions are determined to be \begin{eqnarray*} \begin{aligned} \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛρ(770)^+)=&(4.06\pm0.30\pm0.35\pm0.23)\times10^{-2},\\ \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ(1385)^+π^0)=&(5.86\pm0.49\pm0.52\pm0.35)\times10^{-3},\\ \mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΣ(1385)^0π^+)=&(6.47\pm0.59\pm0.66\pm0.38)\times10^{-3},\\ \end{aligned} \end{eqnarray*} where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, and the third are from the uncertainties of the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(Λ_c^+\toΛπ^+π^0)$ and $\mathcal{B}(Σ(1385)\toΛπ)$. In addition, %according to amplitudes determined from the partial wave analysis, the decay asymmetry parameters are measured to be $α_{Λρ(770)^+}=-0.763\pm0.053\pm0.045$, $α_{Σ(1385)^{+}π^0}=-0.917\pm0.069\pm0.056$, and $α_{Σ(1385)^{0}π^+}=-0.789\pm0.098\pm0.056$.

Using a Poincaré-covariant quark+diquark Faddeev equation, we provide structural information on the four lightest $(I,J^P)=(\tfrac{1}{2},\tfrac{3}{2}^\mp)$ baryon multiplets. These systems may contain five distinct types of diquarks; but in order to obtain reliable results, it is sufficient to retain only isoscalar-scalar and isovector-axialvector correlations, with the latter being especially important. Viewed with low resolution, the Faddeev equation description of these states bears some resemblance to the associated quark model pictures; namely, they form a set of states related via orbital angular momentum excitation: the negative parity states are primarily $\mathsf P$-wave in character, whereas the positive parity states are $\mathsf D$ wave. However, a closer look reveals far greater structural complexity than is typical of quark model descriptions, with $\mathsf P$, $\mathsf D$, $\mathsf S$, $\mathsf F$ waves and interferences between them all playing a large role in forming observables. Large momentum transfer resonance electroexcitation measurements can be used to test these predictions and may thereby provide insights into the nature of emergent hadron mass.
