In May-June 2014, the experiment devoted to the search for the bound state of the $η$ meson and $^3$$He$ nucleus has been performed at COSY accelerator in Research Center Jülich in Germany with WASA-at-COSY facility.
The excitation functions for $pd\rightarrow^3$$He2γ$, $pd\rightarrow^3$$He6γ$, $pd\rightarrow pppπ^{-}$, $pd\rightarrow ppnπ^{0}$, $pd\rightarrow dnπ^{-}$, $pd\rightarrow dpπ^{0}$, $pd\rightarrow pd$, and $pd\rightarrow ppn$ reactions have been measured in the vicinity of the $η$ meson production threshold. The experiment was carried out using COSY ramped proton beam and deuterium pellet target. The beam momentum varied continuously in the range of $1.426-1.635~GeV/c$ corresponding to $^3$$He-η$ excess energy range from $-70$ to $+30~MeV$.
The analysis of the obtained excitation functions for the $pd\rightarrow^3$$Heη$ indicate slightly the signal from the bound state for $Γ>20~MeV$ and $B\in[0;15]~MeV$. However, the observed indication is in the range of the systematic error. Therefore the final conclusion of this thesis is that no narrow structure that could be interpreted as $η$-mesic nucleus was observed in both excitation curves. Thus, the upper limit for the total cross section of the bound state formation was estimated assuming that the $η$ decay branching ratios in the bound state is the same as in free space. The upper limit at the $90\%$ confidence level varies from $2$ to $15~nb$ within the binding energy range from $0$ to $60~MeV$ and the width from $2.5$ to $40~MeV$.

We report on the investigation of the rare decay $η\rightarrowπ^0+\text{e}^++\text{e}^-$ which is of interest to study both $C$ violation in the electromagnetic interaction and to search for contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model, since the allowed decay via a two-photon intermediate state is strongly suppressed. The experiment has been performed using the WASA-at-COSY installation, located at the COSY accelerator of the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. In total $3\times10^7$ events of the reaction $\text{p}+\text{d}\rightarrow{^3\text{He}}+η$ have been recorded at an excess energy of $Q = 59.8\,\textrm{MeV}$. Based on this data set the $C$ parity violating decay $η\rightarrowπ^0+γ^*\rightarrowπ^0+\textrm{e}^++\textrm{e}^-$ via a single-photon intermediate state has been searched for, resulting in new upper limits of $Γ\left(η\rightarrowπ^0+\textrm{e}^++\textrm{e}^-\right)/ Γ\left(η\rightarrowπ^++π^-+π^0\right) < 3.28\times10^{-5}$ and $Γ\left(η\rightarrowπ^0+\textrm{e}^++\textrm{e}^-\right)/ Γ\left(η\rightarrow\textrm{all}\right) < 7.5\times10^{-6}\ (\textrm{CL} = 90\,\%)$, respectively.

Taking advantage of the high acceptance and axial symmetry of the WASA-at-COSY detector, and the high degree of the polarized proton beam of COSY, the reaction pp{\to} ppη has been measured close to threshold to explore the analyzing power Ay. The angular distribution of Ay is determined with the precision improved by more than one order of magnitude with respect to previous results allowing a first accurate comparison with theoretical predictions. The determined analyzing power is consistent with zero for an excess energy of Q = 15 MeV signaling s wave production with no evidence for higher partial waves. At Q = 72 MeV the data reveals strong interference of P s and P p partial waves and cancellation of (P p) and Ss*Sd contributions. These results rule out the presently available theoretical predictions for the production mechanism of the η meson.

In this article it is presented an FPGA based $M$ulti-$V$oltage $T$hreshold (MVT) system which allows of sampling fast signals ($1-2$ ns rising and falling edge) in both voltage and time domain. It is possible to achieve a precision of time measurement of $20$ ps RMS and reconstruct charge of signals, using a simple approach, with deviation from real value smaller than 10$\%$. Utilization of the differential inputs of an FPGA chip as comparators together with an implementation of a TDC inside an FPGA allowed us to achieve a compact multi-channel system characterized by low power consumption and low production costs. This paper describes realization and functioning of the system comprising 192-channel TDC board and a four mezzanine cards which split incoming signals and discriminate them. The boards have been used to validate a newly developed Time-of-Flight Positron Emission Tomography system based on plastic scintillators. The achieved full system time resolution of $σ$(TOF) $\approx 68$ ps is by factor of two better with respect to the current TOF-PET systems.

Total and differential cross sections have been obtained covering the energy region $T_p = 0.95 - 1.3$ GeV ($\sqrt s$ = 2.3 - 2.46 GeV), which includes the regions of $Δ(1232)$, $N^*(1440)$ and $d^*(2380)$ resonance excitations. From these measurements the isoscalar single-pion production has been extracted, for which data existed so far only below $T_p$ = 1 GeV. We observe a substantial increase of this cross section above 1 GeV, which can be related to the Roper resonance $N^*(1440)$, the strength of which shows up isolated from the $Δ$ resonance in the isoscalar $(Nπ)_{I=0}$ invariant-mass spectrum. No evidence for a decay of the dibaryon resonance $d^*(2380)$ into the isoscalar $(NNπ)_{I=0}$ channel is found. An upper limit of 90 $μ$b (90 $\%$ C.L.) corresponding to a branching ratio of 5 $\%$ has been deduced.

In this paper we present prospects for using the J-PET detector to search for discrete symmetries violations in a purely leptonic system of the positronium atom. We discuss tests of CP and CPT symmetries by means of ortho-positronium decays into three photons. No zero expectation values for chosen correlations between ortho-positronium spin and momentum vectors of photons would imply the existence of physics phenomena beyond the Standard Model. Previous measurements resulted in violation amplitude parameters for CP and CPT symmetries consistent with zero, with an uncertainty of about 10-3. The J-PET detector allows to determine those values with better precision thanks to a unique time and angular esolution combined with a high geometrical acceptance. Achieving the aforementioned is possible due to application of polymer scintillators instead of crystals as detectors of annihilation quanta.
