Fantasy/Horror and Contemporary Literary Fiction

About The Author

Anya K. Jordan discovered her love for fantasy at a young age, growing up in Germany as a fan of the dark fantasy and horror works of Wolfgang Hohlbein, often called “Germany’s Steven King”.

As an adult, she developed an affinity for the English language, and for the large, complicated worlds of George R. R. Martin and James S. A. Corey, which still influence her today. In 2013. she earned a degree in sociology and political science from the University of Osnabrück, and her training in viewing the world and its social structures critically from without and within has been informing her stories ever since.

In 2017, the love for her then-girlfriend – now-wife – drove her to Stockholm, Sweden, where English became her main language, that she has been speaking, dreaming, and writing in for years.

Her debut novel, “It Will Hurt: Queer Love in a Death Metal World” (2022) is a semi-biographical tale of a queer awakening and mental health struggle as a musician in the hypermasculine underground metal scene of 2010s small town Germany. It has been called “an engaging story of self discovery” in reviews, with praises of “brutal insight” and an “authentic voice, tinged with anxiety and conflict”.

She is currently working on the final stages of a fantasy/horror trilogy, which is set to release in 2024.
