This is Jethro, my Bengal cat. He isn't doing too good due to his kidney troubles but he still manages to have fun and pester the other cats!

Update

I had my appointment at the hospital today. I can now start to weight bear and walk on it. The doctor said 25% then build it up over the weeks. It isn't healing internally as fast as they'd like but he put that down to my age. Externally the wounds are doing well and I can have a proper shower or bath now. I don't need to wear the moonboot unless I am walking. I have to go back in a month and half and they will check my progress. The doctor referred me to the physio, so waiting for that appointment to come through. I also asked him when I can start driving again and he said I'll let you know at the next appointment! I have to keep moving it now and I have been moving it while sitting and doing a wee bit of walking in the house and let me tell you, it's really sore. Which is to expected, I was told! Here is a photo of my X-Ray, check out all that metal work!!

Isn't it a cutie with its funny teef? Lovely animals, they really are.

Icy Mallard

 

This ia a male mallard, you can tell from the grey and green. The girls are brown. This was taken round about this time last year. He is standing on a frozen bit of the pond! That is what I am gonna miss most about my injury, not getting out anytime soon and seeing nature. Once I am able to walk, I might hobble into my garden and see what I can find, so at least I will be posting current photos. Let's hope I can weight bear soon.

Spiders Are Artists

 

Wet and frozen webs really show us how talented spiders really are! I love this, especially with the amazing little water droplets.

Happy Birthday Abby

Today is Abby's birthday. She turned 17. She is one of the sweetest cats ever!

 

You can see my cast in the bottom photo! I am in a moonboot now though. She has been by my side since I got back from hospital and has been comforting me. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBY.

Edinburgh Christmas Market

These are the photos I was gonna post last month from the Edinburgh Christmas Market. Thanks for your lovely comments yesterday. And the update is fairly good regarding my relationship, my partner came back today. We had a long talk and managed to sort things out. My daughter is very happy at this.

Worst Christmas Ever?

I'd like to thank everyone for your lovely comments and thanks to the few people who emailed me too.

Since my last post I have had a further surgery. Something called ORIF which stands for Open reduction and internal fixation. I was unconscious for this operation and it lasted for just over 7 hours. I didn't do very well and they monitored me for 2 days. By the second day my vitals were stable and I saw the Doctor and physiotherapy. As my health got better they decided it was time to discharge me. I left the hospital on 4th of December. I could not walk and had to hobble with a zimmer. The hospital gave me some other aids for the house, but not many. They said I didn't need calcium, but I decided to order it anyway as calcium is essential for bones and I am dairy free. I struggled the first few days and then my partner decided to walk out on me and my daughter. More heartbreak. I honestly couldn't believe it. He said he would help where he can and we are trying to work things out just now. I am hopeful.

I've had a few appointments at the hospital, an ambulance has had to take me as I cannot get out my house due to stairs. The doctor showed me the xray and it turns out I have several plates and at least 19 screws in my ankle and leg. I am sick and tired of nurses, doctors and specialists telling me how serious and traumatic my injury is. At one of my appointments they removed the cast and I am wearing a moon boot now, which isn't at all comfortable. I cannot put any weight on my left leg. So hopping about on my right is tiring. 

I have another appointment in the middle of January. I am hoping for good news that I can put weight on the ankle and learn to walk again.

Between my injury and partner, this has been the worst Christmas I have ever had. I still cannot walk and need the zimmer and crutches.

I have lots of photos so will get back to posting. My Blogging hope for this year was to post ever day, which I didn't manage, so I am hoping for that for 2026 and a good recovery too.

If anyone has had a similar injury advice is welcome and hope too. Thanks everyone.

Update

Had an operation on Friday afternoon. They put pins into my leg to try and hold the ankle into place. I need to get more operations.

It is very sore!

Hi everyone. I am in hospital with a broken ankle. Waiting on treatment. Hoping to get home tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

Caturday: Cleo's Eyes

 

This is Cleo looking at a shiny reflection on the ceiling. She was mesmerised! It was my daughter's cutlery and the lights that caused the reflection. Cleo loves to sleep on the massive bear we have and I placed it in front of the radiator. Cats and heat!

Shaggy Inkcap

 

This is a Shaggy Inkcap Mushroom (Coprinus comatus). At this stage it is edible from what I have read. Once it opens up and goes black, then don't eat it! I love taking photos of Mushrooms!

Rose Heart

 

We saw some roses and my daughter managed to pick a heart petal. I thought it looked lovely. She tore it in half and gave me half and kept half herself. I thought that was very sweet of her.

I saw this Starling with its child. I really love the colourings on Starlings and think the young Starling is beautiful too.

Yellow Shouldered Amazon Parrot

Another one from Amazonia. A Parrot. 

It has that, "What you looking at?" look to it I think! I'd love to have a parrot as a pet but I have 6 cats so don't think that would work so well.

Rotterdamn October 2025 Part 3

So we got the train to The Hague or Den Haag in Dutch.

I quite enjoyed this street performer, my daughter was trying to talk to him!

 

Another attempt at people photograpy. A cleaner with plenty pigeons as friends!

I saw this on the ground and wondered what it was. When I got the angle right, I realised! It was a face made up of coins.

And one of the train station at The Hague.

We got back to Rotterdam and noticed some great reflections.

The lovely sky.

We walked about Rotterdam and did a wee bit of shopping. On the way back to the bus we saw this and I thought it was so cool.

It's a red BMW hanging over a building. I found information on it HERE. Interesting piece of art!

We all enjoyed the trip and would visit Rotterdam again. 

Rotterdam October 2025 Part 2

The boat arrived into port at about 9am.

 A bus took us from the port to the centre of Rotterdam and dropped us off at the train station.

I like the slabs outside the station, they had a nice design and nice colours.

We walked about for a half hour and decided to get a train to The Hague, which I'll post tomorrow in the final part.

I saw this mural and sign and thought it was cool. It's a Korean BBQ Restaurant. If we go back, we'll give it a try.
