I am looking for image file formats to save grayscale images
(with a depth of 256) to, without loss, in a compressed
form. Information about average compression rates (in terms of space
saving and speed) would be much appreciated. Any good refs for books
and articles with this information would also be helpful,

					Thanks,

						Mike
