# I'm interested to know why a subject like "Will robots take
# jobs away?" can get so much comp.robotics attention, and, in
# contrast, the Dante II story is a veritable monologue.

Last time I bothered to check, the "Will robots take jobs away?"
thread was more or less a monologue as well, with Richard Walz
accounting for most of the mails (and virtually all the bandwith).

# Is the Dante II story to awesome for us to respond to? Can't
# we talk about 8 legs instead of 6? Or smaller machine vs.
# larger machines? Or, where did that 1.8 million dollars go
# to exactly?

I second this. So is there anyone from CMU or NASA who would like to
comment on the above issues? Or would anyone working on alternative
sorts of rugged explorer type robots like to present an opposing view?
The JPL planetary explorers?
