There was a construction article in the June - September 1990 issues of Radio 
Electonics for a similar robot, called the 'Lawn Ranger'.  It uses a Z80 as 
the brain andwas powered by 2 12 volt batteries (not solar). It has to be 
shown the route around the lawn, and then will follow that until it finishes 
or hits something, then it will stop. I don't know anything else (other than 
what was in the article) about it. If you want more information, you could try
