Russell Pencin
Former Lead Training Specialist
ParcPlace Systems

Mr. Pencin was a founding member of ParcPlace Systems,Inc, with over 13 years 
of practical Smalltalk experience. Recently, as Lead Technical Instructor for 
ParcPlace Professional Services, he was responsible for certification of 
instructors, course material development and content, and for delivering 
VisualWorks training. Over the last five years, Mr. Pencin has taught more 
than 150 VisualWorks classes worldwide. He has also developed a number of 
specialized Smalltalk tools for application delivery, tuning, and other 
purposes.  His Tips and Techniques presentations at several users conferences 
has received high praise.

 Prior to his most recent position with ParcPlace Systems, Mr. Pencin was a 
member of the Smalltalk Object Engine Implementation team. As part of this 
team, he participated in the initial conversion of Smalltalk-80 from a 
research tool developed at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) to the 
industrial strength development environment now sold by ParcPlace as 
VisualWorks.

 During his 16 years with Xerox Corporation, he held various positions 
including: Field Support Engineer, Field Support Trainer, Manager of Customer 
Support, and Senior Member of the Advanced Development Group. As a member of 
the ADG, he assisted in the development of a Smalltalk delivery project based 
on an Intel/Motorola hybrid platform built to the specifications of a 
proprietary customer. He worked closely with Xerox PARC from Feb. 1984 through 
July 1986.

Mr. Pencin is available for beginning and advanced mentoring positions with 
interested parties.  Currently, Smalltalk training will be referred to 
ParcPlace Systems, however, contiguous programs may be negotiated with both 
parties.
