Randy,
The next release of ENFIN Smalltalk, version 5, will have *full* support
for OLE2/COM, including in-place editting, embedding and, more importantly,
automation. This will open up Smalltalk to a distributed architecture where
OLE objects (OCXes) can be distributed enterprise-wide and accessed using
industry solutions such as DEC DCE and Orbix (and others).
Currently, ENFIN support the embedding of normal OLE objects (specification
1), but OLE2 and OCXes will allow objects to be packaged as components
that present several interfaces to the outside world.
