I posted this question to comp.client-server and got no replies yet.

Clearly Smalltalk enbales faster turnaround of code. How does it
perform in client-server environments compared to the various visual
basics, C++, PowerBuilders, w.r.t. gui speed and reliability?

I am a novice at C/S but do have a very strong programming background.
Coming from parallel programming world, I am somewhat surprised that
programs for real production work can be so buggy (Powerbuilder),
so convoluted to attach to databases (Visual Basic and C++), yet can
be so popular with horrible GUI performance (PB).

After spending alot of time trying to figure out the other alternatives,
I hope someone in this newsgroup would tell me that some Smalltalk
product X or in general, will give me relatively reliablity and that
client-server performance would be reasonable. Before I sink a hefty
cash and time investment in implementing Smalltalk application.
